Hi guys.

I have some questions regarding the online filling of the I 130 form.

As I read before, when choosing to send the paper version we should not leave any spaces blank and if the field wasn't applicable, we should fill with N/A or NONE. Does the same applies for the online version? As there are questions like "Name of your previous spouse" that's not applicable in my case. Another question, when asked "When did your last marriage end" and is asked to fill in a date, if this isn't applicable, should I just leave it like it is (MM/DD/YYYY)?

TIA.

Just use common sense.  On both versions of the form, certain answers and check boxes make certain sections unfillable.  If you've already said the beneficiary has no children, you do not need to put none or N/A in every blank for 5 potential children.  Don't leave things blank is old advice from when the I-130 was 2 pages.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Yes just use N/A or None. I understand why your asking because your nervous and this form means a lot to you and your wanting to do it right. Don't mind other members, ask questions you need asking ok. Just make sure you read the instruction pdf first before coming here if you cant figure it out ask. It will be fine, you'll do great just always try your best.

In the online forum, you cant write "N/A" because it won't let you. You can write NONE, but in the instructions, it says this.

If your answer to a question which requires a numeric response is zero or none (for example, “How many children do you have” or “How many times have you departed the United States”), type or print “None,” unless otherwise directed

So what I did was I left dates blank and certain sections blank. An example where I left blank was my wife's middle name. I can't put "NONE" because my wife's middle name isn't "None". Another section where I left blank was where it asked the question "At which USCIS office will the beneficiary apply for adjustment of status to lawful permanent resident". I left that blank, too, because I'm filling abroad. However, there was a section where I put "unknown" and that's the section for "Parents 2" because I don't know who my father is.

Do your best in filling out everything accurately.
