RFE for W2?

We got a RFE today for " F. (40) the sponsor or joint sponsor( if required) on Form I-864 Affidavit of Support must submit the following:

W-2s, 1099s, and/or schedules submittted to the Internal Revenue Service(IRS) --- a copy of his/her Federal income tax Return was submitted and? or the Sponsor or joint sponsor requested an extension to file his or her Fedaeral income tax return."

I never filed for an extension in my life. This year I sent in my return a month early. I sent them three years worth of w2s and last(2006) years federal return. What can they want? There is no number on the letter so I can't even call to ask them why they want something I already sent.

It seems that sometimes papers get misplaced. Others have been asked to send in paperwork that had been previously submitted.

I believe you only need to send in one year of tax return with a W-2 attached.

We sent in a few pay stubs also.

Just send it to them again.

If a photocopy of a tax return is submitted it must be a copy of the complete return as was originally submitted to the IRS. That means, as the RFE states, W-2s, 1099s, schedules, attachments, exhibits, everything that was sent to the IRS.

Did you submit a copy of everything? If so, submit it all again and tell them explicitly that this is a copy of the complete return as submitted to the IRS.

If you left anything out, submit it now.

Maybe get a tax transcript from the IRS and submit that as well.

Excellent advice! May as well get 3 years tax transcripts while you're at it.
