Love to share my naturalization interview based on 5 years residency rule with divorced decree this morning in San Diego CA (04/08/2021).

I came to the USCIS office 15 mins before my interview at 10.30. It took 5-10 mins for checking with security and front desk receptionist. I then waited for 10-15 more mins and was interviewed by a nice lady officer. She first checked the civics test with 6 questions (why are there different representatives, name one of longest river, ocean in east coast, what did susan fight, how many year for president election and what event in Sep 11 2001?), next with english test ( where is the White House? And the White House is in Washington D.C). She quickly doubled checked my personal information (name, DOB, SSN, address, phone number, travel trips, job, divorced status) and Yes/No question (no meaning). She congratulated me for passing the interview but because I have changed my name so I need to wait for the oath ceremony which takes place on april 27th. P/s: remember to tell the officer your traffic tickets what I forgot to file in  the question 23( paid, pending or dismiss...) She would love your honestly. I though my case is more difficult than the others due to my divorced decree after getting 10 yrs green card but it went very smooth and fast. She did not ask any questions about my previous marriage at all. Good luck everybody!

Congratulations and thank you for sharing. I am also in San Diego. Is it easy to find parking? Also if you were bit changing your name, would they allow you to take the oath ceremony today?

They have the parking in front of the building but costs 15$ for 2h. I believe if you do not have name changed, you can take the certificate right away. ( my friend took her certificate right away after interview 2 days ago). For my case, i need to wait for the judge’s signature

I believe you will hear it soon, just be patient. I knew someone whose filing date is close to mine has the same situation as you. He is still waiting. Let us know when good news comes. Blessings!

Thanks for the encouragement! It really helps a lot. Will post an update as soon as I hear something. Fingers crossed, hopefully in the next couple of months.

Thank you so much. It is good that you printed it out. For the recent travels, I travel once a year and the dates are hard to remember. Do they allow you to bring in your own N400 form and refer to that form when they ask you questions?

Sorry for the late reply. Maybe you can refer to your passport for all the travel dates. She didn't ask me the exact dates, she just asked me where and how long we were there. BUT it might be different with each officer. You can also just  print it out or refer to the application so you are familiar with the questions. You've got this:)

8.20.08-married :D:D:D

10.08 - forms I-485 and I-130 submitted through lawyer

11.08- biometrics

12.2008- appointment for interview received

01.04.09- EAD card received

01.28.09- interview for AOS

02.05.09- AOS approval letter and welcome note! yey!

02.12.09- GC recieved! :D (wrong middle name spelling)

02.15.09- moving out of in-laws' house.

confused if i have to change address first or have GC corrections

I had a similar experience at my interview.  The interviewer wanted to know about how many trips I had had overseas in the last 5 years.  He did not ask for specifics, but perhaps exact dates would have been more important if I had been close to the limit.

we travel back to our mother country once a year. It is impossible to remember the dates, but the total for 5 years outside us is below 150 days, so I think that should be fine with my case...

I'm still waiting for my interview, but for whatever it's worth I think it's extremely unlikely that they would ask you exact dates. There's no point for them to quiz you on that... it's not something people typically remember, and some people travel overseas so often that it would be absolutely impossible. If it were me I would probably just keep in mind the exact number of trips, the country and approximately how long each trip was.

how long did it last - both together?

Around 1hr 15 minutes. I was a special case though.  The San Jose office doesn't do same day oath ceremonies. I was moving across the country within one week from the interview and the officer was very kind and asked their supervisor if I could do same day oath ceremony.

Glad to see that some biometrics updates are being sent! My appointment was for March 23rd, just a few days after the shutdown :( But my last biometrics was taken 2017 - I dragged my feet on applying for N-400. So I don't think they'll be able to reuse mine. We'll see if I get a new notice in the mail... goodluck to all! Following this thread now, thanks for sharing your experiences.

Oh and My USCIS still has my case being finalized in September... so something must be off lol

Hello, hope you are doing well. I was wondering if your interview has been scheduled or completed yet. I am in April file and that would indicate where they are in terms of completing the interview queue. Thanks a lot!

Nope, they used a photo they took in November 2020 during my bio appointment.  The interview itself was less than 30 minutes and it was very straight forward. They really only verified the information from the application and did the civics/English test.
