I am feeling so bummed!  😢

I went to my interview today. Got there on time. Sat for 3 hours. When my number was called they told me that they needed to reschedule my interview because they were still working on my background check.😱 I was shocked. Previously I heard they told the same thing to someone else and I thought that was bad, without thinking they would say the same to me. They told me I should get a new letter in the mail in 3 weeks.

I got back home and looked at my schedule and they updated my case with this verbiage:

December 7, 2020

Interview Cancelled

On December 7, 2020, we cancelled or descheduled the interview scheduled for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, Receipt Number IOE##########. We will notify you by mail if the appointment is rescheduled, a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

I am feeling so stressed, frustrated and depressed at the same time. Has anyone else experienced this or read about someone else having this same issue? It would help a lot to learn what to expect from this.

Thanks. 😓

That doesn't make sense that they would mess up like that and not correct it before you actually showed up. I had read on uscis.gov that interviews were not scheduled until background checks were completed. Hope you get this sorted soon.

I'm guessing it's probably the holidays (past and upcoming) that may have delayed your interview letter Mosesdz. We just have to be patient I guess. At least biometrics is done, the ball has basically started to roll.

Congratulations! Was your biometrics rescheduled due to COVID?

It looks like your background check was done very quickly and your position in the waiting line for interview wasn’t affected by a delayed biometrics.

Congratulations on your fast-scheduled interview!

Is it a recent trend now for March filers, maybe nationwide or only in certain offices, that shortly after a COVID-caused delayed-biometrics done around October and November, there will be an interview scheduled?

It's probable, I see plenty of people got them both done the same day. But at least to have the interview is almost as good as done, so early congrats!

They reused his biometrics. We didn't hear anything from March until the end of October, when we finally got the biometrics reuse notice. Then about a week or two after that we got the interview notice. It feels so good to be almost done!

So just logged into our USCIS account to check it since its been over a week since last I did...Case status tab still shows the March 14th Bio appt. scheduled, the Case History Status tab still shows the "Invalid Date Biometrics Appointment Was Scheduled" message, but when I check the documents tab I see a Biometrics Reuse Document has been added as of 12/10/2020. So we finally have some movement on our case. I feel a little bit better now that we have this. Now we wait and see when they will schedule our Interview. I cannot wait for this to all be over and done with...ugh.

Husband's interview is finally scheduled for Wednesday, December 16, at 12:45 pm. Baltimore field office. Do you think he will have the oath on the same day?

I may see him there - mine is at 2pm, same date, same field office. Let's hope the winter storm is not too bad and we can drive there without too many problems. I am coming from Potomac, MD!
