Hello Everyone, I need some inputs from experts in this forum. My application for naturalization is denied, and I am Expecting the denial letter any time soon )

Reason : I filed my application of March 9th, 2020 in Cleveland. I was just moved to Cleveland on 01/15/2020, so not able to justify three months residency in current jurisdiction.

Interview officer went on my civics question and reading and writing skills and then started going through my application, and he found that by the time I applied my stay in Ohio is 52 days only and the requirement is 90 days. I really don't know how I missed it though :(. Officer told me he is rejecting my application and I will receive a denial letter soon.

After doing some research on VJ, I found that I did satisfy my residency in current state requirement. Here is the reason why I think its a mistake from officer.

I got GC on 06/01/2015, Five years will complete by 05/30/2020, where as I applied based on 90 days early filing. For early filing the current state of residency requirement seems different. See the below statement.

D. 90-Day Early Filing Provision (INA 334)

"In cases where an applicant has filed early and the required three month period of residence in a state or service district falls within the required five-year period of continuous residence, jurisdiction for filing will be based on the three-month period immediately preceding the examination on the application."

As per the above statement by 05/30/2020 I am meeting the required 90 days stay in current jurisdiction.

I am thinking of appealing my denial, please suggest.

Thank You!

I would suggest you start a new thread. This thread is for those of us who filed for naturalization in March 2020. You'll likely get more answers if you start a new thread, as more people will see it

About two weeks after I messaged USCIS to inquire about my biometrics rescheduling, I finally received a reply saying it's now rescheduled. Finally!

They just updated the questions after me and my limited English speaking wife learned all 100 questions.  We've given up.  We spent months learning and everything is a complete jumble trying to relearn the new 128 questions.

Just feel defeated at this point.  She can speak English OK, but this completely ruined us.  :(

Note that according to the website the new questions will only be used for people who apply in December 2020 or later.  As you applied in March, they should use the old questions.

If this is true, does that mean they screwed up on @feeling_hopeful's wife?

My reading is that @feeling_hopeful and his wife have studied the 100 question pool, but have not yet been for interview.  They are worried about having to learn the new 128 question pool.  My understanding is that all of us March applicants should be questioned from the old pool.

Yeah _ I checked their website and it looks like we March filers are OK.  My wife was literally in tears because we are so close to ending all of this and it would have sucked to learn everything new.  We've been practicing daily for months.

Thank you.  Web portal says only 7 more days to go (lol) so I am hoping something gets scheduled soon.

Hi all, I have been finding some of you guys' experiences very encouraging. I have not posted anything in here for the past 7 years. Anyway, I am applying based on 5 year residency. My green card will expire next year so I thought of applying this year, unfortunately, Covid-19  happened and I am one of those that are still waiting for an answer.  I applied online and did not maill an application.  I  am still waiting for my rescheduled biometrics appointment, it was scheduled on March 27, but cancelled due to Covid -19. I emailed them and told me to wait 90 days after my ASC opened. I gave them a call and told me the same thing. Now it has been more than 90 days since my ASC opened and I still have not received my rescheduled biometrics appointment. I talked to them via chat and they told me to file an e-request and to file a  "Did not receive notice by mail". And again, I have to wait another 30 days for that. Then this morning, I found this on my online account. I feel so gutted right now.  I don't know what to do. should I call them now? should I email them again or wait for next week because that is when the 30 days expires for the e-request, and then call them then, or what?

Is it the "Invalid date" that you are concerned about.  If it is I would not worry about it, it seems multiple people on these forums have found a similar issue.  It is probably a system glitch.

Thanks for answering me back. I guess they are still quite backlogged.  I feel anxious since many of you here had actions taken on their cases. I, on the other hand am still waiting. Do you think it would be best to contact them again, this time, calling them and asking about the progress of my application? the 30 days ends next week (28th) and it will be a holiday, so I might not get another answer...

(getting very anxious... as you can see)
