Does anyone know the criteria that USCIS uses to release processes? There are people who wait 6 months for a NOA2 and there are people who finish everything, even the interview in 4 months, being from the same country and sending documents at the same time.

Think of it like a grocery store. You and someone else join neighboring lines at the check out at the same time. What are the chances you will both be paying and leaving the store at the same time? One of you may have more items than the other, one operator works faster than the other, one of you may need to be checked further (like an ID check for liquor but at USCIS it could be a criminal record check), one register may malfunction, one of you may have forgotten something and have to go back and get it. This is looking at it in very simple terms. In reality the process is a lot more complex than buying groceries and there are many variables in play.

The petition are sent to different processing centers which take different amounts of time to process. Then once it lands on someone’s desk it might take that person more or less time than someone else. Then there are the individual beneficiaries that need to be checked out. Cases are not approved in the order they are received
