I spoke with a USCIS representative and they said that right now only biometrics are being scheduled for those individuals whose biometrics were previously cancelled. The different phases are for those people.

for example, I am in the Philadelphia office and they opened on July 13th. Right now first phase appointments are being completed. There are two more phases to get through and they are only for those individuals who had a biometrics date back in March. I believe she said every phase takes about two weeks. After the three phases are completed, then they will start scheduling new biometrics. She said for Philadelphia we are probably looking to receive a letter by mid or late August.

Hope this helps. It seems every representative gives different information but this makes sense because our priority date is March 31st and we still have not received an appointment letter. For offices opening end of July, it might be until end of September you may not get an appointment.

How did you speak with some one on a sunday? thnaks for sharing the info

Thank you for this information.
To note, I am Feb filer and my biometric appointment was scheduled to be March 20 in Philadelphia. So far I did not receive new biometric appointment letter :(

Oh wow. Hopefully you’ll get something this or next week.  Please keep us posted! Maybe you can try calling them. They are also able to check in the system if there are any updates to your case regarding Biometrics specifically. You never know maybe the tracker we use isn’t completely up to date.

Yeh it could be that they are "bypassing" them, as what they told me.

My local (Sacramento, CA) ASC office opened today, so I called USCIS to see if I could gain any info. Didn't learn much new:

* They have not scheduled any new biometrics appointments yet, but they are having appointments today (previously appt that has been rescheduled, biometrics for CA and UK visa, etc. I guess)
* I should wait 30 days to see if I receive a biometrics appointment, if not I can call back and ask
* She said it was up to each office if they wanted to waive/bypass biometrics for EAD (or anything else)
* She did not know if ASCs will be affect by the potential upcoming furlough

So I keep waiting... 😕

8/11/2020: Biometrics appointment at the ASC in Sacramento, CA

This really gets me going. I spoke to someone today too to see if my local office was doing AOS biometrics and I got a similar answer. They are open, but what they are doing inside beats me. AOSers get the back seat once again. Why do CA and UK visas get priority?...we are inside the country!!! 😡

It's for Americans who wants to get visas for Canada or the UK. They need to get their fingerprints done and it's done at the ASCs even though USCIS then just ship it off to either CA or the UK. There is an USCIS website online where you can schedule your CA biometrics appointment, but you need a CA application number to do that. Seems like they process about 8 biometrics appointments for CA visas per day per ASC.

My case status changed today.

Kind note to all - just sit back and relax. Patience is the key. Everyone is on a different journey with very different tales.

I myself find it better not to read constant threads / messages. You simply cannot compare your case to another persons.

Wishing you all luck on this journey in this crazy world. We will get through this and look back and feel proud.

Congratulations. And yes, wise words.

I have been around this block many times since 2009 (i know) and those are precisely my words to my husband. I know it doesn't work coming from someone so close to you. Just be patient with reason. All will be fine.

For those seeking EAD, find a job first. That's a bigger fish to fry than this document, understanding there's a loose dependency there. But if you are truly capable, your employer is willing to wait - also coming from someone who hires H1B workers - me.

Thank You for your kind words.

It’s unhealthy for people to delve so much into this and feel sad & upset. We are all in different parts of America and the USCIS offices all vary in they way they are opening back up / their procedure etc. I am in Virginia and have no idea how long I will have to wait for my biometrics or interview - but I’m not going to stress about it at all. We have good health and that’s all that matters.

I didn’t apply for the EAD form or the form to be allowed to leave the country. I personally didn’t see the point, just because the process takes so long!

Fantastic that you received your biometrics notice! That's progress!

Also, I agree that people should be patient and relax as much as possible, but people should also feel justified to be anxious/frustrated. People's life depend on this, and for some it has real consequences, not just an inconvenient delay.

*A lot of people already have jobs, but will lose them if they don't get their new EAD
*A lot of people are dependent on a job for their family to keep living the life they do
*This is not 2009. This administration has an agenda, and the USCIS is purposefully making life hard for us. (ASCs could have opened sooner if they wanted to, the printer issue was completely avoidable, etc.)
*Logical objective of the administration is to do what it can to get reelected: Make as few new immigrants as possible eligible to vote in November, and give out as few EADs as possible so that Americans can get the available jobs instead. I would not be surprised if the reason you got your biometrics appointment was because you did not apply for EAD...

Anyways, I'll take your advice and chill now. :)
