March 2020 AOS Filers

Hi all,

We are beginning to put together our AOS package and have a question regarding what must be submitted with the Advanced Parole I-131 form.

On the checklist of required initial evidence it asks:

  • If you are an applicant for adjustment of status, a copy of a USCIS receipt as evidence that you filed the adjustment application

I'm probably over thinking this, but can someone confirm exactly what this is?

Many Thanks

By the way, I called USCIS today and the agent told us to wait for 15 working days (before another one told me 15 days though) before calling them again for a status update or possibly taking a next step. I am not sure what they meant by the "next step". Since its been a while, have you called them to ask if they see any updates related to your alien number on their system?

Could you possibly let me have the number and the options to get through to a human please? 😄

I rang and got through - she told me I need to wait 30 days and if I haven’t received an email or text then I am to call.

Hi all,

So after my second rejection I turned into an April Filer, but I am still following this group and cheering all of you on. And I wanted to share that our third attempt at filing got ACCEPTED! My husband got the text notifications last night! Woohoo!!!

Congrats! That's great news! It'll be interesting how this all works once offices open back up and they have a backlog of people to get thru.

Yes! I'm sure it's going to take FOREVER, but I'm just glad to be somewhere on the long list now!

Posting on this forum recently has been good luck. Got the NOA letters today.

Exactly how I feel. Much less stressful once you get a case number.

Hello all, we ended up getting an RFE for my husband's birth certificate (attaching pics of the RFE). We submitted a birth certificate from his birth hospital in Taiwan that included his full correct name, name of both parents, DOB, seal of doctor, and wet signature of the attending physician. We saw that other people in visajourney had the same RFE (specifically from Taiwan too) but not sure how they ended up responding to the RFE. This link (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Taiwan.html) states that what we sent is acceptable so I'm just unsure what to send in. Thank you!
