Last year, we were planning to go to Japan, end of March to early April, for the Cherry Blossom Festival. Then this happened https://news.yahoo.com/japan-cherry-blossom-festivals-cancelled-virus-fears-grow-104349533.html

Hoping you booked refundable/re-routable tickets. 🤞

We were hoping to catch it as well. And the MORI exhibit/museum has closed now too.

Travel insurance ftw. We're covered. Only one event ticket is non-refundable, and that was only like $40 anyway.

I think we will have more clarity in the coming weeks.  My stepdaughter is coming here from NZ in April as well.

I actually work in the cancer center of the hospital in Kirkland, WA where the first US death occurred last night.  I worry most of all for my immunosuppressed patients.

Did you read the report from China that personnel working in other hospital sections not dealing with covid-19 patients have higher mortality rate as they had lax practices on washing hands and similar precautions thinking it won’t get them?

My family already was washing hands dozens of time per day (soap and water, not the alcohol gel disinfectant) - we just upped the times and are especially vigilant washing hands before eating, when coming into our places, school or work, meeting others. Healthy immune system with fresh fruit and veg as well as probiotics is what we rely on.

We have a coworker in self-quarantine after returning from north Italy.

Needs to be 60% plus alcohol based to kill it.

I am not surprised.  My hospital had its second confirmed COVID-19 death yesterday, with 20 patients admitted from the nearby skilled nursing facility, awaiting confirmed test results.  I am not at work today, but my colleagues have been texting me.  Everyone is angry and feels like we are not being told the full story.

Do not be in fear. Use your discretion and keep an eye on news updates.

If you check news reports so far there is only one reported case of covid 19 in Africa and it's in Egypt. There are very many chinese people in a country like Kenya and yet nobody has got the disease yet. Africa is the most vulnerable continent yet it's still a mystery why this disease has not hit hard there. Some are saying it has something to do with DNA
