Hi all! If anyone can help with my question, it'd be greatly appreciated.

I'm currently in the NVC stage (received the ID number for CEAC on Mar 20). The US embassy for our petition is in the London (UK). My husband has been working here for 2 years + on his work visa (he is a Malaysian citizen). However, due to the virus, he has just been laid off and will be moving back to Malaysia. We therefore, have to change the embassy to Malaysia instead of London. How can I go about this and will it delay the process significantly?

Thanks!

Given the current situation with interviews and things, I doubt it will delay your application unless Malaysia has long wait times for interviews.

But changing embassies is easy! If you use the contact form on the NVC site, explain that your husband is moving back to his home country etc. and provide his new address/contact details. And just to make things easier, attach evidence of your husbands address in Malaysia (his passport or drivers license from there or some type of bill would be fine) and proof that he's no longer resident in the UK such as an exit stamp, flight itinerary or something.

I haven't been able to stay up to date here the last few days, so I'm sorry if this is old news, but is NVC closed? I noticed they didn't update their current processing times today, and they usually do on Mondays, so I thought!

I realize most embassies are closed.

Stay safe everyone 🙏💙

I believe they were open but closed early at 4pm due to inclement weather. Their phone line had a recorded message stating they would be back in office tomorrow at 8am. Let's hope they stay open and process cases!

Thanks for the info! That's reassuring that they are still working..  Hopefully they update the website tomorrow with their updated timeframes!

Hey, everyone!

I am going through the same thing. I actually resubmitted one of my document to them and I haven’t heard from them till now. So I was bit worried. Can I have an email address or any contact information of any of you so we can keep in touch and give information to each other?

Thanks!

I have been trying to change the Embassy for months now and each communication I get a new instruction added on what to do. So here are my recommendations so yours is faster. Send a public inquiry (not an email to asknvc) and detail the reasons of change, include address AND local phone number and attach evidence (ID/Passport/bills/etc).

When I moved countries I was still at the USCIS stage and they only accept to change my husband( petitioner) address back to the US and told us we needed to wait for contact of the NVC to change mine (I am Peruvian. We lived in Germany for two years and filed the petition while there). Sooo we waited... months went by and nothing so I sent an email to asknvc on Dec 30th. Then in January I started getting desperate because it was going to be 4 months that we had an approved petition and no NVC welcome letter,. Over the phone the lady told me to send a public inquiry attaching evidence (didn't mention anything about a phone number).... so time went by and in February I received the response to my December email asking to send a public inquiry, and last week I received the response to my public inquiry of January asking to send a new public inquiry including the phone number besides the new address. So now Ill have to wait another 2+months, since over the phone they have already refused two times to help me change the consulate. Another thing you can try is contact the consulate in Malaysa so they request the change, I know the German Embasy did that for a returning German citizen. I have tried my Consulate but my timing was terrible since it was the week of the lockdown where all consulates are crazy busy... so might have to wait again those 2+months, but I feel like everything will be delayed anyways so maybe it wont make a difference (I am in week 4 of wait for my CEAC docs review).

Good luck!
