@Hilde Im sorry to be the barer of bad news, but it doesn't look good for us right now. Rio consulate has closed till further notice. And to think we should be getting DQ this week.

UAE Embassies (Dubai and Abu Dhabi) are also closed until further notice.

Immigrant and non-immigrant visa interviews are cancelled.

Morning all,

We submitted our documents on Friday, however that tracker still says "submit requested documents" and goes on to say that we should post or email them.

I understand very few cases are now done by post or email, but is it normal for CEAC to take this long to update the tracking status to reflect that our stuff has been submitted?

You're obviously welcome to try and expedite but I will point out the obvious and say everyone else is in the same position as you on this. If they expedite one person due to the coronavirus, then everyone is also technically entitled to it and the floodgates will open. So they will probably have a hard no stance to make sure they don't get a flood of expedite requests they can't handle.

Usually data like this is only accessible to employees on site. If all their workers were able to access it from machines outside of the building they worked, some of our most personal data that can be used to ruin our lives in home countries and elsewhere is easily accessible to malicious people. And imagine all the lawsuits against the government from that... At best, supervisors will be the only ones that might be with some type of remote access. Anything else is hugely incompetent data security.

Obviously don't mean to rain on anybody's wishful thinking or anything either. But I also don't want the rumor mill to start up cause no one has questioned either of these hopes, cause I'm in the same boat and would like to hope for these things too.

True. These workers must have sworn confidentiality and I really dont think they would have access to any government site outside of their workplace. This is very serious business and any breach could cause complications for homeland security.

This has been talk ed about a few times (including by me lol). Basically, the tracker sucks. As long as CEAC shows that you've submitted its fine. The tracking site will only update again after NVC accepts the documents/gives you DQ.

Let's stay positive everyone! 💖 I saw from a post on a facebook group that someone was DQed yesterday, some has been receiving messages from USCIS and getting approvals as well. So I don't think NVC or USCIS or any visa related offices has fully stopped working. 😊

People will continue to get DQ as long as the NVC stays open , yes, but that's not my main concern. Obviously a DQ is a step closer, but its no good if we can't get our interviews at embassies/Consulates. If (just as an example) the consulates stay closed for 2 months, then that automatically puts us 2 months further behind. You have to remember that all those who have had their interviews canceled till further notice will more than likely be rescheduled before us. So for countries like Canada who already have a long interview wait (5 months out), that will automatically become 7 months, depending how long they stay close. To be the last stage of the process its absolutely heart breaking knowing you'll have to wait half a year.......not to mention how sorry I feel for those who had interviews scheduled for today, I can't imagine getting this news a day before your life is about to finally be complete.

Believe me, I get your point. I had the same thoughts when I found out that the US Embassy here in my country has announced that they will close the embassy until further notice. But at this point we can't do anything but to wait. It is depressing to think that the waiting will be much longer than what we have expected it to be. I've been waiting for 3 years now to be with my husband,  and you can just imagine how I felt when I learned about the current predicament. But what can I do? I have to be positive and have faith in this whole process, and hope and pray that the day which I have been waiting for will come.

So right now, I'm more concerned about being DQed because that's where my case is right now. (I'm not even sure if I can get it right with one submission) I don't want to think about the interview yet because I know it's going to make me more depressed. We can't expedite our cases or ease the situation through worrying. Not that I'm telling you not to worry, all I'm saying is for everyone to stay positive, that's all. 🙂

Hi I'm also waiting on dq. Submitted on the 21st of February. Hope to get dq'ed on first submission also. I submitted my brother's documents a day after I did mine and he got documentarily qualified on the 12th of March, first submission. Hope we'll get some good news soon too.

Fingers 🤞. Well I'm waiting patiently because everything is basically on a standstill for now. Even so I would really want to know I'm only waiting on interview date.
