Some people do it separately, but I did it all together. I scanned all my tax papers into one PDF, wrote with black pen the year they were on the front of every page and when I saved the file I changed to file name to [casenumber_Beneficiary name_Document name] Example: RDJ1223455667789_JaneDoe_TaxTranscript. I had no issues, just keep each file under 2MB and you'll be fine.

Did this get accepted? I know of someone who attached a W2 and a transcript in one PDF and that was her only RFE...

Hi. Thanks. As I have 6 W-2s from 2019, should I upload each W-2 separately?

I saved as one file if there are multiple pages per that specific doc. If it's a one page doc, like a W-2, I saved them as an individual file

yes everything was accepted. I only submitted tax transcripts, no W-2 etc, and everything was fine. I can't speak for the person who got the RFE. I submitted 3 years of transcripts in one PDF

We uploaded all our W2s on the same doc, and the tax return separate from the W2s

I consulted my lawyer about the need to fill out the DS-5540 Public Charge Questionnaire, and from his expertise, he's recommending all his clients that are  involved in consular processing to fill this out prior to their interview and to have it readily available in case the immigration officer has any questions about your prospective health insurance. Now, he still seems unsure about the completeness of the form since a lot of questions are redundant.  For now, he advised us to acquire international health insurance for the beneficiary as evidence that you are insured at the time of arrival. Hope this helps.

Yes, your post is very helpful. Thanks David&Olga.

My lawyer is saying like you (that everybody should fill this out prior to the interview and have it readily available, etc.). Unlike your lawyer, he says that a proof that we are doing what is needed to get a health insurance (like a quote for example) is sufficiant. But honestly, I trust your lawyer more than mine LOL and I think it is much safer to show all the papers that an international health coverage is to be signed, the day of the interview (unless for those who already have their itw planned and very soon).

What a stressful document !

Inhale, exhale 🤪

Hey Guys,

Still about DS5540...

Do you think that by uploading that new documents, we go back to the bottom of the waiting line?

(say no, please say no)

Take care

Hate to say so, but yeah..

question now is, if we don’t upload it given we don’t have DQ, will we get an RFE delaying everyone by another 8 weeks.. it’s my understanding that they’re only asking for DS5540 at the interview for those that already have DQ

AOS Journey

  • I-485 etc filed 23 April 2020
  • NOA1 I-485 June 3 2020

I am assuming it will put us to the bottom of the pile too. :(  I am hoping that they are going to just ask us to bring to the interview since the form was not available when we initially uploaded.

I’ve seen a couple of posts where people have contacted NVC to ask, but they’re all for those that already have DQ.

ive got a pending Expidite request (3weeks) I might use it as an excuse to call them tonight (7am there time) and ask about DS5540 at same time and let you know

Regarding the Ds5540 public charge questionaire, if the beneficiary is required to have health insurance when they come to the U.S,how can we add them to our insurance when they dont have a Social Security Number yet?

You don’t require a SSN to add them, but you do need to do it either:

- within 90 days of marriage - when they arrive in country (significant event) - or as part of open enrolment

i just got a letter from my husbands employer saying theyll add me at open enrolement or under special conditions (arrival) whichever comes first in accordance with requirements.. and ticked the we’ll get it box

Submitted everything Feb 7! It would be awesome if things sped up and we get DQ this month!

I submitted Feb 9th - Really hoping for some news soon! I still cannot seem to fathom a rough estimate.
