Few questions Regarding CR-1

Hi VJ friends,

I am helping my brother in process of his CR-1. I have some questions regarding DS 260.

Does he have to submit any documents with his DS-260 or I864 (other than IRS paperwork)?

He is submitting his documents from Islamabad Pakistan embassy approximate how much time would it take to get interview date after submission of  DS 260 and I864?

Does his wife who is permanent resident (Petitioner) has to go with him for interview?

Thanks in advance

After the petition is approved then the DS-260 would be done.

Since it is filed by the wife who is not a citizen expect a wait of 2 years or so.  After that it will go to the NVC where the I-864 will come into play and eventually on to the consulate if the visa number is current.

Hard to say what the schedule will look like that far out.

It depends on when the NVC has everything they need and when an interview opening is available at ISL.

Interview should be within a couple months of NVC finishing their review of the documents.  Note that after the interview, a Pakistani male will wait several months to a year or more to complete the further security checks that start only AFTER a successful interview.  This is called Administrative Processing, or "AP", but that is a catch-all term.  It's additional extensive and expensive security checks.

Also, include evidence of the US spouse, LPR's income:  letter from employer showing current income, recent six months of pay stubs, IRS tax transcript from most recent tax year, evidence of assets if applicable.  I recall a number of civil documents as well that need to go with the DS-260, passport-size photos, read the instructions and send what is required.

Some of the advice above is far out of date.  A single pay stub is enough evidence of current income, AND replaces the need for an employer letter.
