You are required to submit a police report (PC) for any country that you have lived in for more than six months since the age of 16 AND you are to submit local PC's for the interview. I can't answer your question without you answering mine; which PC are you asking about local or from another country?

PC is not required for AOS after marriage.

Ukraine she has not lived anywhere else. the report for the embassy interview in Ukraine does it need to be translated and stamped from someone that can certify the language to English is indeed correct translation or will it be fine in the native language of the country (Ukraine) that the interview will take place? thank you for the AOS information.

I have answered those questions in a previous post located here

She does need a PC from her country/local. My answer doesn't change for translation that was posted in the above link.

Check here for details on the PC.

it does not state that it needs to be translated or how long it is effective, do you know effective (duration it is good for)?

In the link I gave you says all documents must be translated for USCIS and the embassy, either using a professional transcription company or doing it yourself. It doesn't matter who translate but it must be translated if it is in a language other than English. PC's are usually one year but you must check with your embassy as they may have different rules than other embassies.

the embassy check list for Ukraine does not specifically say if the documents requested for the interview will be kept by the embassy and returned later so with that said;

do you take one set of originals and one set of photocopies of those originals to give to them?

i.e birth cert

divorce certs

letter from father giving permission for the child to leave the country

thank you

I don't know about you guys, but I'm really starting to get frustrated now. The inconsistencies with Corona protocols have eroded my patience and so has the lack of information on the immigration ban and it's effect on my case. I hope the announcement next week is a good one and that it's directly related to embassies re-opening.

There are federal buildings in D.C. filled with people everyday now, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't open an embassy in a country that has half as many Covid cases as my state alone. I hope next week brings good news,

Sorry for the rant!

I'm not sure which federal buildings you are referring to, but if it helps, the federal agency that I contract for has not returned to their offices in DC or any of them throughout the country. Hopefully everything will move along for all of us soon, but please don't assume that just because some places are open that that means that everyone has returned to work as normal. Most places are still only allowing essential workers and sometimes that means only a handful are allowed to be there at one time.

I recommend that you "look around" in VJ. There are some good conversations that are happening that address your concern. Also....

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?

    • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
    • it will take as long as it will take
    • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
    • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
    • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
    • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
    • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

Good luck on your journey

All of my contracts are in federal buildings in DC and there are plenty of filled offices, so I'm not assuming, I see it. I'm not saying things are normal at all, just that I hope they open embassies soon.

According to a State Department spokesperson, 97 overseas posts are in Phase I and 35 are in Phase II of reopening.

Under Phase I of the department's reopening plan, "Diplomacy Strong," up to 40% of "non-vulnerable employees" may be brought back, and under Phase II, 40% to 80%, according to an overview of the plan.

I understand all of this, I was just typing some thoughts in my respective months thread. Just thoughts! I've barely made a sound here and have been extremely patient and will continue to be. I'll also keep my thoughts to myself in the future.

Thanks

has anyone seen the news yesterday that trump is going to expand on the immigration ban... (it will also get extended),which means that the embassies will also make up their own decision on k1 visas even though the ban does not include k1. i am going to request an update from Ukraine on the k1 and if i get told about the EO by trump i will forward them the EO and specifically show them that the k1 is not on the ban. they go to the IG for the embassies because i truly believe the issue is that the k1 is a non immigrant visa but once they marry it goes to a immigrant visa. this being the case is where the problem is and i think we all need to push back because this is ridiculous!! his wife is not american and denying us what they were provided is unconstitutional!! we are going about it the legal way and are getting punished!!
