Colombia has cancelled all international flights until August 31st. 😭

Since my fiancee is living in Ecuador should I try to get her case transferred from Colombia to Ecuador? She is Venezuelan and all Venezuelan cases are being processed in Colombia, but given that she lives in Ecuador I thought they might be able to take her case. Our case is already sitting in the Colombian embassy.

If she has citizenship ties to Venezuelan with residency then it will be a promising idea to start the process rolling. Where is your case file now? NVC or Embassy?

The case file is at the Embassy

Then request the file be transferred to the Venezuelan Embassy (Columbia) for adjudication. Keep in mind that this could take anywhere from 1-3 months for the Columbia embassy to receive the case file.

If you wish to have your immigrant/fiancée visa file transferred contact the appropriate U.S. Embassy/Consulate directly in the country where you wish to apply and submit Form DS-3098 for case transfer.

The old Embassy will need to receive a formal file transfer request from that U.S. Embassy/Consulate in the country where you wish to apply. Upon receipt of this request, they will immediately forward the file for the New Embassy to process. (Expect up to a 30 day delay) "your mileage may vary".

Once you contact your New Embassy you then can discuss the transfer of your interview fee if you have paid it prior to the decision of transferring your case to your new embassy. Be sure to have your payment receipt available.

If your case goes from embassy to embassy, then a new case number is not required nor assigned. The case number will begin with original alpha nomenclature i.e. AAAXXXXXXXXXX. To make your payment using your old embassy's case number you establish your profile on traveldocs.gov with that case number then you link your payment to your profile.

Good luck and stay engaged.

@Greenbaum I just received an email correspondence from the US embassy in Been that I-129F (K1 & K2) are part of the temporary presidential ban of visa processing. Have you heard as much? They indicated K3 & K4 are only exempt visas. If Bern is mistaken, would you have a suggestion on possible path to clear this confusion? Thank you

K-1's are not exempt from entering the USA but they are part of the visa processing that is on hold while the embassies are closed. There is no way around that.

Hi everyone, I'm new in this community. My NOA2 got approved on 2 March 2020. However we still have not received my case number because NVC made a mistake and assigned my case to Guangzhou China instead of Hong Kong. They are still working on rectifying the problem. We've been waiting for more than two months now since we got our NOA2😢... Hope we would get some good news soon🤞.

@Greenbaum Is there any chance you have P3 of Hong Kong 2020?  Thank you so much!😃

P3 letter for Hong Kong embassy interview

Spend some time at the HK US Embassy website and read up on what the requirements are and what is next. Here is the link: https://hk.usconsulate.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee/the-interview/ and

http://www.ustraveldocs.com/hk/K1 Visa Instructions 15Mar2018.pdf

Spend sometime in the sub forums for China/HK found here. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/94-china/  There are many experts that can help you along. Most here in this forum are trying to get their arms around their own process and have very little knowledge for HK.

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community those who come behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

@Greenbaum this is why it is so confusing concerning the presidential proclamation.  Here is 4 screen prints of the "Immigration Suspension Executive Order - MEGA THREAD"

I am guessing they are just misinformed?

The best anyone can tell—> K1s are not affected by the temporary 60 day ban on immigrant visas as it is not an immigrant visas. At least one person on the forum has been issued a K1 visa since that 60 day ban started.

K1s are not exempt from the various travel bans that are currently in effect for Europe, China, Brazil, etc. Only spouses or other direct family members are exempt from these.

As long as a new executive order is not issued that affects K1, you should be able to receive a visa when:

1) The US State Department ends it’s temporary pause on routine visa services

2) Your local embassy reopens and starts scheduling interview appointments again

3) The travel ban for your specific country (if applicable) is lifted

The US embassy in London has opened K1 appointments for July and August. Maybe they are just taking a shot in the dark or maybe the have advance knowledge of when European travel and visas might resume. It’s anyone’s best guess at this point.

I see, that is what I was confused about,   So K1's will still be processed but there is a travel ban that Ki's cannot enter?  Did I get that right?   Thanks

Yes. K1s will likely be processed when routine visa services resume and can enter once travel bans are lifted.

No official guidance has been published by State Department on this, but this seems to be most likely.

The most annoying issue is that if some people in the European area really need, and have proof, to get an emergency appointment, that appointment is not given because of the travel ban. Which, in my opinion, is quite absurd. There have been several people that were able to enter the US after quarantining in another country, therefore I don’t see the problem.
