That response has nothing to do with what you want to do. I have created a PDF file which you can download for free located on the first page, first post of this thread. There I explain in detail what you need to do for you to get your case number.

 

Call NVC to get your case number phone numbers are in the PDF.

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.
 
So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Thanks, I did add that country and timeline info later, after my post, so I think it’s there now.. The reason I didn’t call NVC is because of this notice on their web page:

“Phone (for nonimmigrant visa inquiries only): Temporarily Suspended”

 

Am I misinterpreting that?  Should I call the immigrant visa phone number even though this is for a K-1? Thanks again.

Hello! I haven't received my case number yet, but I will be moving in a few days and I don't know how to update my mailing address with the NVC. I reached out to the NVC asking if it will be possible to update my mailing address once the case number has been created, but the only response I received was that they haven't received my petition yet, which didn't answer my question at all.

 

Is there anything I can really do at this point or do I just hope that whatever they send me in the mail gets forwarded to my new address?

The case maybe there but they have not "checked it in" so to them it's not there. Are you the beneficiary or the petitioner?

interesting, we've got the same date of NOA2 I just called at 11pm to get my case number, one ring and they picked up. I got my case number and checked, "at NVC". i've yet to receive any email or postal mail. I checked the pdf and used the julian date to figure out my case number was created on 04-03...almost a month ago and haven recieved email or anything...strange...but give them a call and get your case #

Update at USCIS (link is below) and with the embassy at the interview. When you know your file is with NVC then go ahead and update with them.

They don't inform you till your file has left NVC for the embassies.

Our application is still at the NVC after two weeks. I'm not expecting anything to move very quickly right now so we're just finishing up our DS-160's today and then we will wait for the next notifications. I'm pretty sure that's all we can do right now. Am I missing something else that I should be doing?

We are at the same step. I had the case number the 7th april. And my case is still at the NVC.....

That worked, thanks!  Looks like case number was assigned on April 4th, but not yet sent out to consulate.

Well, most who are students of the PDF see the line that states ask Greenbaum for your embassy P3, but I guess you read that and didn't think you would need a copy.

Ouch!! You're guessing wrong. I asked you for the package in March and thanked you already for giving it to me. I think I was asking that question "just in case". I don't mean to pollute the forum with redundancy.

 

I do have another question though. I thought I was waiting for the NVC number to use on the DS-160, but the DS-160 only asked for the USCIS Case number. Did I misunderstand something?
