I'm expecting it to be a mad dash once everything opens. We'll do everything we can prior and just cross our fingers. There are some documents that we still can't get because offices are closed, so hopefully it won't take forever to get things firing on all cylinders again.

I think its important to try stay positive during this time. I'm Canadian, so even with closures, I've been advised that the border is permitting travel to your fiance, as its "essential". The 14-day quarantine and actual pandemic make this inadvisable, so we wait 😊When the green light happens, there is no telling how things will unfold. We are blessed to be safe and healthy and have each other. A few months delay is a small drop in the bucket of a lifetime together. I haven't seen my fiance in 4 months, and probably won't for another 4, but being angry and frustrated every day is pointless. We can't predict how they will get things up and rolling, but thank God we are starting to see movement.

Do you have a copy of the PDF file from the first page of this thread? There I have explained certain steps, when they can be done, and where to go to execute the instruction. The top of the first page are the steps with the corresponding entry# to where you can find the background information for that step.

Canada is a different breed. They will not let you schedule your appointment until the receive the P3 checklist. If you do schedule before they receive your P3 checklist they will cancel the appointment. Some embassies are beginning to open their scheduling but not Canada. So, you have a little wait.

Thank you for the clarification. I do have the pdf, but my brain struggles sometimes with all the instructions. I know it's probably annoying to have to answer the same questions that have been asked before, but thank you. Yes, we are always a different breed, for the good and bad. That is good to know. I was encouraged to see cases being forwarded on to Montreal this week. I know we have a long ways to go, but I'm thankful for any little bit of hope. Our case doesn't have a case number yet, but we are in no rush :)

Actually, Packet 3 is just a checklist you send them a few days before for all the info you will bring.

Montreal Embassy does not let you schedule your interview until you get packet 4, that says 'You are now able to schedule your appointment.' -- doing so before gets cancelled.

And it's like that because it's the only way to book your medical. With packet 4 saying you can book your interview.

Medicals are also cancelled /on hold at the moment too.

I sent you a DM @RPete to a Facebook group for Canada, tons of ppl in there that have gone through it/are going through it. You can search through post history for in-depth instructions if needed.

There is a thread in the COVID forum that is focused on this announcement. Head there for good discussion.

There isn't a law that has been made or an executive order in place concerning this topic. So, for not it doesn't affect anyone. There is an entire discussion taking place in this forum. Join there to add your remarks and here we will stick to the topic of this thread.

@Greenbaum would you happen to have a p3 for India? Thanks for all your help on this forum.

I do. Let's make a trade - you finish your profile for the P3.

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

Here is the letter that you will receive from Mumbai Embassy. Read it over carefully and follow the instructions. Another member of VJ added some additional information contained below which outlines what he experienced.

Once you received your case number from NVC,  I would recommend you fill out the DS-160 form and submit. Some say the packet 3 letter is nothing just a waste of time the same thing they have mention which you easily get from the USCIS website when you called the clinics to book your medical appointment date they will ask you have you received your packet letter or not. Just say yes and booked the appointment date however you will receive that letter within 2 weeks the day you will get your NVC number.

Go on the USCIS website make your account with a password and then pay your fees to Citibank or Axis bank. They will give you a reference number. With that number, you can book your biometric and interview appointment date. The fees are 18,500 and for medical but I recommend that you carry 20,000 with you in the event you need more. Be sure to keep at least 7 days gap between medical and interview.

The website address for Hyderabad is

Here is a topic in another forum where those from the Mumbai Consulate are applying with good information.

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community those who come behind you. Without others ahead of you, I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

Now looking at my case number and @Greenbaums PDF I am seeing that my case is being sent to Bangkok, even though we requested Rangon, Myanmar.  My fiance is Burmese (from Myanmar) but lives in Thailand, we wanted to go through Myanmar thinking it would be a faster process as they have far fewer immigrant applications, like 10% of Thailand.  Now, with COVID-19 my fiance can't even get to Myanmar so I wonder if this is a blessing in disguise, and we can go through Bangkok instead, without my beneficiary having to leave the country for the interview, medical, etc.

What is our window for requesting an embassy change?  From what I have read we might be too late to change at NVC (case status says "At NVC" however).  Can we get the letter from Bangkok embassy and then decide if we want to request a transfer?  It will buy us some time to let the border s and health situation of each country settle.

My status finally updated to READY at the Sydney consulate! I am stoked. I am going to pay the fee for K1 and K2 now and see where that leaves me. I wonder if they will give me an interview date and when it will be. I think going ahead is the right thing to do right now.. I did my DS-160s about a month ago but nothing has changed so they should still be ok, right?
