Aloha Newhawaiki! I saw that you are from Wailuku. I am from Maui as well. So crazy to find another Hawaiian in this forum. Good luck on your journey and thanks for the info you provided.

What a trip! Do you still live in Hawaii? I hope you and your partner are going strong in these times. My fiance's mom told us that, "If we can get through this we can get through anything." I think those were wise words for us all.

I got a text today that my case was received 😁 My check has also been cashed as of today. I’ve already signed up and enabled notifications to check my case status online. I feel like I can breathe easier now.

Congrats :)

Hope we get our NO1 this week too. Getting anxious over this Corona situation. 😅

Did you also get an email of the copy of NOA1?

Hi. No I don't believe you usually get an email. We only received an SMS and you can expect that mostly on the day your cheque is cashed. At least that was our case.

On the bottom of my NOA1, it shows the California Service Center, When we send our packet of docs to Texas (as instructed) does anyone know if the documents we sent are destroyed after being scanned? I'm just curious.. In my case, I assume their entered into the system in Dallas and processed at the California location via computer... Thanks

The process is that you send your documentation to the Dallas address as specified in the instructions. Once USCIS received your file they proceed to break it down and scan what they need. Some paper artifacts are kept and sent to CSC to follow you each step of the way to your embassy interview. Some of your submission will be destroyed as it is not needed for the process. Most of your record will be in the computer. This is in everyone's case not just yours.

I hope this helps explain the initial steps.
