If I plan to get married now while I have filed I-129 Fiance visa, what will be the process?

Keep in mind that going to the US on another type of visa with the intent to get married is visa fraud. Some have gone with the intent of seeing thier fiancée but woke up one-night thinking let's get married and they ran off and got married. After that they filed AOS for their spouse and everything in the end worked out for them. If you scan through the topics you'll see this being discussed.

We filed the inquiry on Sept. 9th and heard back on Sept. 22nd.

Just curious to know, did you receive update on file status after submitting request or you still have to wait ? What is the typical response for such case status inquiry.

Yes, they gave a date that by this date, your inquiry will be completed, but it was completed before the given date.

You would start over by filing a CR-1 for your spouse.

CR-1/IR-1 is the route you want to go if you visit and marry. But if so keep in mind you get in the back of a new line and pay new fees. I wouldn't recommend it.

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?

    • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
    • it will take as long as it will take
    • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
    • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
    • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
    • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
    • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

Good luck on your journey

The problem most of us are having is, the man who took our gold has changed the rules by delaying our petitions past the 7 month mark and adjudicating cases dated months after ours were received.

Not exact, but they did provide a time period of 5 to 7 months, any day beyond that is considered outside normal processing time, all according to USCIS.

If they kept to their own words, we'd have a lot less complaining.

I quote: "Please note that times may change without prior notice." The man with the gold still is making the decision."

The timeline is only their to give an idea WHEN you might expect your NOA2 not that a NOA2 was promised within that time period.

The bottom line is you are not "entitled" to receiving your approval with your expectations. It's simple math. I don't understand why you don't understand. Oy Vey!

The destruction of reason has seen the triumph of ignorance.
