March 2020 I-129F (K1) Filers

I agree we should all be patient, we really have no other choice right?.. But I can be patient and b*tch at the same time, maybe because it makes me feel good.. Today will be 5 months from NOA1, completely unacceptable IMO, what is DHS doing? eating donuts and watching porn?.. There was a time when the entire K1 process took less than 6 months from NOA1 to the Interview date.  Add to the frustration is Covid19 which prohibits us from visiting our Fiance's, And the closing down of US Embassies which will delay the process even more..  Of all the years to file a K1, we chose the worst..  I'm not having trouble holding our relationship together, it's just totally sucks being apart, and at the pace this process is going, she has no chance of being here before the end of the year.  It's all BS!

My turn to b*tch. It bothers me that someone can demand something that they are not entitled to until properly vetted based on US policy. A visa is a GIFT from US Citizens. It's not a right. 

 

Immigration decisions have direct and indirect effects from their citizenry's composition, the utilization and quality of their services, and the general social, political, and economic character of their communities. 

 

Everyone is different. Everyone has diverse backgrounds. Everyone has a different character. Everyone has a different family. Everyone comes from a different country. Everyone comes from a different state/community. Yours is NOT the same as everyone else's. Till you come to grips with reality, you will foster your hatred for this process.

 

Although the federal government has exclusive jurisdiction over immigration policy (the terms and conditions for entry into the United States), states and localities have become responsible for immigrant policy (the policies that help newcomers integrate into the country’s economic, social, and civic life.) States implement programs required by federal law, provide services mandated by the courts, and initiate programs and policies to serve their new citizens' specialized needs. States and communities look to the federal government to do its part to ensure successful immigration policy to both the communities and the immigrants who will meld into their respective communities and the safety of the community's citizenship.

 

There have been periods where a visa was adjudicated within three months, and some six months and some even beyond a year. Your view of their workload is skewed to represent your bias.

 

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?

 

  • "the man with the gold makes the rules."
  • it will take as long as it will take 
  • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
  • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
  • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
  • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
  • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

No one, including me stated you didn't have that right. Don't know where that thought came from as it was never stated. Even if you marry a USCIS it does not guarantee you a visa. You as the beneficiary will be vetted just like everyone else.

The word gift is kinda 🙄 but I will say it’s a privilege just like getting a driver’s license.  Greenbaum wasn’t saying you can’t marry who you want but someone being able to get a visa to come to the United States is not guaranteed. Just like when I went to visit my fiancé for the first time I had to follow the needed steps to be able to get a visa to enter their country.  Someone else is in control so all we can do is wait and try to remain positive. Things are going slower but take into consideration the amount of applications they receive for K1 visas. If you use the case tracker app and do a search you will see that for one particular date they get hundreds of applications. It’s human nature to want fast results and with Covid everything is even more frustrating. We will all get to be with our loved ones soon.

I agree a visa is not a gift from USCs, it is a document you apply and qualify for issued by the state department a privilege if you will!

You can describe it the way you would like. I view it as a "gift". Thank goodness for the first amendment that gives each of us the opportunity to express our own thoughts. You just did, and I did too. To me it's a gift. To others it's just a piece of paper. To each their own. There is no accounting for tastes. Different strokes for different folks.

You're putting words in my post, I'm not demanding anything, I'm just disgusted at how long its taking compared to what a K1 used to take.

 

As for comparing this to a gift, a Gift does not involve money, when you collect money for anything, a product or service, that alone gives you certain rights, it's called a Contract, which in this case is subject to approval...  If BOTH parties meet that approval and you  paid a fee for it, you are entitled to it or have that money refunded to you.

The only way "Soon" will happen is when NVC  resumes sending cases to US Embassies and that those Embassies re-open,  when that will be is anyone's guess.

Check to see if your embassy is processing visas and which ones. If your results return 999 that indicates that they are still not processing that visa type. Your mileage may vary.

When I say “soon” I don’t literally mean tomorrow lol I’m fully aware everything is on standstill. It’s more of a figure of speech that eventually it will happen so there’s no need to stress or worry.

We would have other choices if we lived in a democracy with a popularly elected government accountable to the people it represents.
