@ChloeS welcome!! The NOA2 should definitely come by mail to the petitioner (which you want to keep for your records and to use during adjustment of status later down the road). If you guys opted for electronic notification (G-1145), then you should theoretically receive electronic notification (email or text - I received my NOA1 via text, so I'm assuming that's the way the NOA2 will come for us). I say theoretically after reading through past month forums where petitioners did not get an electronic notification and rather found out about their I-129F approval through one of the tracking apps.

Thank for answering!! It's very helpful!

We signed up for G-1145, but even did not receive anything before receiving the hard copy of NOA1... Apparently, it's not well communicated :(  I'll be sure to check out some tracking apps! Good luck to us all!!

You can create an account on the USCIS website and opt in to receive text and/or email notifications.

@PatLuvO Thank you!! I did register an USCIS account and linked it with my case number. I didn't know they'd send me a notification once there's an update. It's good to know :)

Chloe

USCIS is notorious about not sending an email notification even with a G-1145. Most don't receive an email but it's not typical not to receive a NOA1 or NOA2 by snail mail so keep an eye out for those.

@Greenbaum Thanks for your info.here and much appreciated!
At what stage do we get a case number ?
ignore my experience here please, I have just received my NOA1 in end of March and waiting for my NOA2 now. If I’m not wrong we get the case number after NOA2 right ?

Thanks 😃

That's correct. Case Number is assigned by NVC about 6 weeks after NOA2. Once you receive notification that you are approved then move over to one of the threads with the current month you are approved in. They will have NOA2 to NVC to Embassy as part of their title. On the first post will be a PDF file that will outline everything you can do at the milestone., Good luck and stay engaged.

Thank you for your extremely meaningful and kind comment. My best to you and your fiancé as you both embark on your journey to a fruitful life together.

@Greenbaum Really appreciate your kindness and energy you sent out here!
just to add on my previous comment that we received NOA-1 via mail , so I believe the NOA-2 also will follow the same and not be electronic. I was kinda lost with all those form numbers mentioned before like G-1155, I-797C etc

but just figured that NOA-1 is the same I-797C Notice of action 😁

I’m sending my best wishes to you and your fiancé on the same journey, also to all my fellow friends on this March Filers Thread!
we are more stronger together ☺️

Neither did I. Apparently you are responsible to fill out all forms correctly and to a T, but those who receive the forms are free to totally disregard them. Enjoy!

I'm an April filer but you guys seem to be the most active, so I will ask here😄 Is anyone worried that the furloughs of USCIS will affect our NOA2 date? If they start in August. Or should they have started looking at these packages already? How long does it usually take for them to look at it to sending out the NOA2?
