Election 2020 live updates: Democrats make final arguments in South Carolina

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/02/28/south-carolina-primary-live-updates/?outputType=amp

The Democratic White House hopefuls are crisscrossing South Carolina on Friday with hopes of boosting their standing in Saturday’s primary and gaining momentum ahead of Super Tuesday, just three days later, when 14 states and two other jurisdictions hold nominating contests.

The Palmetto State’s primary is particularly crucial for former vice president Joe Biden, who is hoping strong support among African American voters will propel him to a victory that could resurrect his campaign after disappointing finishes in other early states.

It seems like if you were to check the box that you intend to vote for the party you were not committed to, you need to lie to yourself or lie on the form.

That doesn't sound like fun, it sounds immoral.

Trump Calls on Supporters in South Carolina to Vote for Sanders in Primary

President Donald Trump called on Republicans to take part in South Carolina’s Democratic primary and vote for the candidate who would be easiest to beat but still has a real shot at the nomination. After polling the audience via cheers and clapping, Trump determined that the one who fit the bill was Sen. Bernie Sanders.

incidentally, the same candidates backed by Putin.

So only registered party members should be allowed to vote for their party’s candidates?  There are a lot of independents out there.

You seem to have mixed up the tale of King Midas with the Emperors new Clothes. To avoid anecdotal confusion, you might want to keep your fairy tales straight.

1. I never stated that. I said that if you checked a box that you were affiliated with one party when you knew that was not your affiliation and you never intended to vote for a member of that party in the election, that is a lie and a personal moral failure.  If Republicans (or Democrats) are fine promoting a campaign tactic based on lies, let's just label it what it us.

2. There is no Republican primary this year (meaning SC Republican voters get less voice in their party platform) so the opposite opportunity for "chaos" is not there.

3. I looked it up, Republicans in SC have tried repeatedly to tie eligibility to party affiliation legally.

4. I don't think it will impact anything anyway.

At least Nature has a sense of humor. It could be worse, he could spring a bad T-bone pun on us.

I have never understood this.  Why do I have to have a party affiliation?  Why can I only vote for that party?  What if I am a democrat but want to vote for Trump?  Or Sanders?

Some states are now putting the party affiliation check boxes on the outside of voting envelopes.  Why?  To make it easier to de ide which ones to toss without opening, thereby speeding up the counting process?
