Hi all,

I already submitted my application for my US citizenship but I’m kinda worried. I sum all my days/trips outside the US and it’s 230 days.

I received my GC May 2015.

2015 - 172 days(less than 6 mons)

2017 -  29 days

2019 -  29 day

They are all more than 6 months but less than a  year. And I was traveling every 2 years to the Philippines to visit my family. The longest outside of the US I had was the 172 days due to a family problems. I have a very stable job since 2015, I filed my taxes on time and I don’t have any owed taxes and no bad records. I’m hoping there is somebody had the same situation I have that has succeeded or at least close to my situation that could give me an idea. Will I get in trouble or will it affect my application?

Thanks all!

It’s within the rules to travel, as long as you maintain “continuous residence” and meet the “physical presence” requirements. You had one long trip but it was <6 months - they may just ask you what the reason was and you have one (family issues). I don’t think you need to stress too much.

CITIZENSHIP TIMELINE

4/2019: Submitted N400

5/2019: Biometrics (3 weeks)

2/2020: Interview (10 months)

3/2020: Oath & naturalization (11 months)

6/2020: Passport received (3 months)

Officially a U.S. Citizen!
