My Wife just got a request for initial evidence to include a long form birth certificate.

"Submit a copy of the birth certificate of other primary birth record issue by the appropriate civil authority for the applicant. USCIS will only accept a long form birth certificate which lists at least one parent. If the birth certificate or other primary birth record is not available, you must submit acceptable secondary evidence and a letter from the government or other authority"

In the initial AOS package we included a copy of her original birth certificate and it is bilingual (SEE attached below). I am not sure why they did not accept it and where we would get a "long form" birth certificate done.

Have you checked out the Visa documents reciprocity website for your country and BCs?

You should.

It's probably not the correct document that USCIS accepts from your country.

I looked on their website

Birth Certificates

Available. A birth certificate (Akte Kelahiran) may be obtained from the Civil Registry office (Dinas Kependudukan and Catatan Sipil) at the place within whose jurisdiction the birth took place. This certificate is available upon request throughout Indonesia.

Is this basically saying we gotta get it from indonesia again? Idk how thats possible with her being in the usa right now.

Hi, hope you have figured it out by now. I got the same RFE on November and I responded to them by sending the same thing but with original copy of birth certificate translation instead of copy of translated bc . Hope that helps.

Just to update this topic if anyone needs help in the future:

We got the RFE and used this service to translate it, also request a certificate of translation from them:

https://rushtranslate.com/documents/birth-certificate

It seems like they accepted it because the status moved on to waiting for interview date. We sent it to the address listed on the RFE. WE have been waiting since april for an interview.

Just want to verify as I have the same situation. Did you just send the same birth certificate as originally submitted, just with the translation from the service you recommended? Or id you obtain a new one to have translated?

And best of luck with your interview.

Yes we sent a copy of the original birth certificate with the translation and the certificate of translation signed by the translator team.
