The embassy will extend it for up to one year.   Normally I would say the embassy does this automatically but there have been a variety of changes in 2019/2020 (so far) and extending the validity of the petition had a change.

 

In the link I gave you earlier, under the Scheduling Interview TAB near the bottom in the Tips & Notes section is info and an email for the petitioner to contact the embassy to extend the validity.    I don't know how quickly you will get a response during this lock down.

Thank you . My fiance/petitioner already did  .That was the email address he first sent our concern last Apr. 1 . They replied and asked him to send a scanned(  in JPEG formate ink- signed request letter which he did last April 2 but didnt get a confirmation if they receive the request nor the latest status of the request .

With the way everything is not rolling along right now, I would just be patient.

 

My gut says .. when the doors are open again there won't be any issues with extensions.

 

For years upon years the embassy has automatically extended the validity of the petition without any paperwork.   This email request stuff I got wind of within the past month.
