Update: I received a letter from USCIS today with an appointment time to go and collect my daughter’s certificate from our FO.

....aaaaand that date falls within the “shelter in place” order we are now under so I have mailed USCIS to let them know I can’t keep the appointment time.... it goes on

Yup, it means the application is approved, but you’ll get a notice to bring in green card and come in to uscis office and get the certificate in person from them. I’m guessing you’ll get the notice soon once your FO restarts interviews. My appointment got cancelled for covid and still awaiting a reschedule.

Thank you so much for the reply. But since I applied and got passport for my child I gave the greencard to the usps when I applied for passport. . I should be able to explain this to uscis FO. Good luck for you also.

Yup, me too. I kept the letter from the passport agency saying they’d kept it ( although it’s not addressed specifically to her/us)  and will take it in, but I’m sure this a situation they are well familiar with.

Excellent advice. I will do the same. Do we have to take the child too for the interview . Do you know about it. Thanks again

My letter was specifically addressed to me (the parent) and just told me to come in. Nothing about the child. I think children only go if they are 14 or over, and then they take the oath.

Any updates about your interview. No Updates  my side. Still waiting for the letter

Nope. My appointment was literally a week after we shut down so I’d expect a notice relatively soon if they are doing it chronologically, but they may be doing some kind of priority basis in which case something just affirming an existing status might be lower priority. If I haven’t heard anything in about a month I’ll probably enquire. Will update here if I get anything- please do too!

Sure. Will do. I heard from some friends that oath ceremonies are happening by my FO

Yup, happening at mine too. I’m fine with those taking priority tbh - they need a lot of those small ones to make up for our usual 1500 twice a month ceremonies...

Did you mean to say that the Naturalization Certificate was returned to you (at the PASSPORT APPLICATION CENTER - USPS after verification) on the day you applied for your kids passport OR USPS kept the ORIGINAL NATURALIZATION CERTIFICATE along with  your passport and sent them back to you later but on the same day. I thought USPS will require the ORIGINAL NATURALIZATION CERTIFICATE to be brought for the PASSPORT appointment and they will return back it back at the end of the appointment after the USPS verify the documents...

You didn’t quote anything so I don’t know exactly what you are referring to, but yes you have to hand your documents in at the passport application center. USPS cannot verify it, goes to DoS with the application. My naturalization certificate arrived the same day as my passport did, but in a separate envelope. A number of people here have said they have waited a week or longer after their passport arrived before their naturalization certificate did. (For my daughter’s passport, her original birth certificate and our marriage certificate had to be submitted too and were returned after her passport issuance.)
