I had my interview Jan 8th and received it on January 30th however there was a typo. I sent it back to the Montreal embassy Feb 3rd and it was issued once again on February 18th, when I received a tracking number and an estimated arrival of Feb 20th. My flight to the USA is for February 28th and I still haven't received my package. The tracking number says that it is in transit but after contacting Canada Post, they say that it was never actually given to them and it must still be at the embassy. I have been sending emails since Feb 21st with only a response saying "We will get in touch with Canada Post to find your passport."

I am in all likelihood going to miss my flight but has anyone ever had an experience like this? Any tips? I have everything ready to go for Friday and can't even rebook my flight as I have no idea when someone will actually help. Feel so hopeless.

I'm sorry to hear of this situation.

Each embassy states either on their website or in their P3/4 letter not to make plans until you have your visa in your hands. What I tell people is don't make plans until you have the visa in hand and that you have looked over for mistakes. For Canada from the P4.

DO NOT OPEN IV PACKET, CHECK YOUR VISA When you receive your passport with the U.S. immigrant visa and the sealed IV packet, please do NOT open the sealed packet.   Review your immigrant visa carefully for accuracy.   Note the validity period of your visa.  You must travel to the United States and apply for admission as a permanent resident within the visa’s validity period. Do not make any travel arrangements to move to the United States, dispose of property or give up your job until a visa has been issued to you. A consular officer can make a decision regarding your visa application only after your formal application and all documents have been reviewed, and you have been personally interviewed by a consular officer.

I do hope you sort this out soon so you can be on that flight. Because of the virus airlines are waving the change requirements so you should check with your airlines to see if your ticket can be changed.
