"Education side"?

Absolutely correct.

Hell, we have lost what, 17-20 people to CV and are throwing over $8 bil towards the disease.

But we lose 22 veterans every day.  Sure wish we could throw a few billion dollars towards that cause...

I have tried to post facts from WHO and CDC sites as much as possible. In the US , the government has been a bit slow out of the gate and mixed on the details.  The mistakes around test deployment didn't help.

Some take my pointing this out as criticism of the Whitehouse.  While that story is quite confusing, I am more worried about CDC performance. It will be essential they learn and move forward.

The quarantine fiasco in Italy is not helping at all.

The Dems are clearly playing politics with this matter, why delay the spending bill a week or more just to run political ads.  The WH is doing what it can for something that is so far out of their control and in some ways are also using this for political gain (everyone loves Saul A.).  The media (mainstream) is going to do anything they can to pin the "Katrina" tag on the president and stoke fear, and do whatever they can to drive the economy in the ditch by using headlines such as "killer virus" "government clamps down, but virus still spreads", etc.  Mistakes have been made globally and in the US and will continue to be made.  Fear will cause folks to think this is a death sentence, and more information will be learned.  It appears that the numbers in China, Korea and Japan have peaked and are now going down (where is that headline btw?).  If you think the US government has been a bit slow out of the gate, what is your feeling about the EU government?

I never said air traffic wasn't down ir air stocks weren't affected. What I said is if there is  specific guidance about air travel coming from the CDC, that would be very rough for airline financials.

I don't wish any economy harm, because I don't wish any people harm.   Why would I wish myself financial harm?

Guidance is here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/index.html

"CDC provides recommendations on postponing or canceling travel. These are called travel notices and are based on assessment of the potential health risks involved with traveling to a certain area. A list of destinations with travel notices is available at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/index.html " (from the FAQ - https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/faqs.html )

Yes, certain areas, certain health conditions. Not all travelers.  If you look above on this thread you will see that I regularly post CDC guidance.

So the CDC's health officials have issued travel warnings, but supposedly the WH over-ruled them?  Which is it?

I imagine official guidance will change based on circumstance. Right now they are still in mitigation mode. If it spreads beyond a certain point, self quarantine and travel restrictions will no longer be effective and would even be detrimental.

Certainly avoiding crowds and being aware of hygiene are still the most effective things right now. For older people or people with health issues, staying home as much as possible has also been suggested. The biggest thing going forward will be getting people who are already sick with mild symptoms to stay home for 14 days.

I would go with the CDC, as far as I know, no epidemiologists working at the White House.

So the APNews story is simply fake news?

Politicians didn't want to communicate (or wanted to change), or didn't have an opinion [how would I know, I wasn't there?], on the CDC message.  No matter the opinion of politicians, I would still follow CDC/WHO before White House.  Same way I don't ask my plumber to work on my electricity.

[For reference, I am immunosuppressed and I have to travel for work - a lot.  So I am being as careful as I can, while still trying to get things done.  Unless they ground all flight and prevent all travel  like they did in China, the virus will spread - but I am not tooooo anxious about it.  Otherwise , I would drive myself crazy and stay home with the cats all year long]

I agree with that, but for some reason we keep hearing news stories of the WH silencing folks like Dr. Fauci et.al.  I see him all over the news stations and it does not appear as if he is being muzzled.  Whatever, the health authorities are the best sources, and I suppose sometimes it sounds different coming from Trump or Pence, but the mainstream media needs to stop the fear mongering.
