If she arrived without symptoms but had been in contact with symptomatic people, she would be asked to self quarantine and monitor symptoms for 14 days. Just like everyone else. If she eventually tests positive, they will be able to contact people who she traveled with.

So all of that is being done. No word about her having contact with anyone who is Ill.

Jesus dude, STOP trying to justify her actions.   They were irresponsible at best.  She knew she was in a covid hot spot.  There's a HIGH chance she was infected.  Waltzing thru an airport after that is reckless.

For it to work, they have to know who the people are and who they came in contact with. The biggest factor in mitigating the spread is contact tracing. The CDC was doing this for the first groups of people coming from China. They contacted them every day and got symptoms and temperatures. If they are letting them through without taking information and then asking them to self quarantine after, it is not the same.

It sounds like the government has given up tracking asymptomatic cases.

She is a reporter looking for her 15 minutes of fame.  No one actually knows what questions she was asked by CBP, other than her and the CBP officer, so there is no way we can verify her honesty.

I think they are inconsistent. They really need a more cohesive response. I do think one thing that is going to be scrutinized down the road was the choice to have Pence lead the response. He is starting to look like he is in over his head.

Husband came home yesterday with directives from work saying that if anyone travels outside the country or to state areas with infections they are forcing them to self quarantine and call the health department (no word on whether they will be paid). Other colleges are doing the same and starting to put together plans from a learn-from-home perspective.

Meanwhile, my fever finally broke this morning with orders from the doctor that if it ever reached the critical point I was to go to the hospital. I can't say really what I have. Everyone else seems well.

MD has 3 cases so far (far from me), and just those three people potentially infected hundreds because of their activities afterwards. 375 are in some sort of quarantine but they are very tight-lipped about which county. I have no doubt that with such a strong international community like MD and DE that the virus is already here and been circulating for a while. We just need to start testing!

Supplies in stores are very low. My thermometer broke and he had to travel around to find a new one. He noticed that in addition to food staples, cleaning supplies, hand sanitizer, TP, and water being missing - diabetic supplies are all gone. At the 4th store he finally found some extra cases of water to stock up on. Hardware stores are now limiting how many items you can buy.

Were you ever able to get tested?

They still seem to have crazy (and inconsistent) guidelines. The state DOH here wants testing done to rule out other respiratory illnesses before ordering the COVID-19 test, but they have already has cases of people testing positive and their only symptom is a fever.

I don't understand what the term "all current testing demands" means.  Who establishes demand?

Demand in this case means when a physician orders the test. So at this time they have been able to run all tests that have been ordered. Given the number of test kits available and the rate of spread, at some point there will not be enough kits unless another supplier emerged.

Preliminary genetic analysis suggests a single asymptomatic carrier started the outbreak in Washington state. As many as 1500 people may have been exposed initially, and the lack of testing has once again implicated in contributing to the initial spread.

No. Fever not high enough. At my highest it was 100F (fever reducers barely did much). But they need it to be 100.4? I could have bypassed my doctor and tried urgent care to see about a flu test (would have been too late for tamiflu i guess) but I'm told they have to follow the strict guideline for the other test. This is really a strange illness. A lot of sweating, dry cough but nothing harsh.

I realize they have to have SOME cutoff point for fevers, but what if a person isn't normally 98,6°?  My normal is around 96,8~97,1°

I guess the 100,4° as the norm for infections applies for cover-19 as well.
