I told ya I'd be the first to fall. 😉

Went for my regular checkup today and as I'm sitting waiting, I'm like... I feel quite more terrible than usual actually, maybe something is up with me. So far all I've got a fever, muscle aches, and headache. We joked about hoping I don't have it, but she can't actually test me so.. thinking it might be regular flu. Call back if it gets worse or develops with a cough.

Stay well.  Fingers crossed.

Stay on top of your symptoms (I know you will), and watch that fever.  100.4° seems to be the critical point?

Not that high yet thankfully.. but popping tylenol. Rarely do I ever get a fever unless I've really got something. Pounding headache though, so I'm off to bed guys. Take care ya'll.

As healthcare officials fight to stem the outbreak of coronavirus, researchers in China say preliminary research shows that COVID-19 is mutating and there are at least two types of the virus now.

One of those, the more aggressive strain, has infected 70% of the people tested, while a less aggressive strain was linked to the rest, according to doctors at Peking University’s School of Life Sciences and the Institut Pasteur of Shanghai.

Also, from the article's abstract (didn't look at their research in details):

-the 70% present, L-type (more aggressive) is mostly contained in Wuhan

-frequency of L-type seems to be decreasing

-less aggressive S-type is spreading over the world due to lack of selective pressure

Yes, it appears that the less aggressive S-type was strain was the earlier version. The mutated L-type strain was detected more during the Wuhan outbreak due to the severity of symptoms, but was also contained more by human efforts, while the less aggressive strain continued to spread. I'm sure there will be more to come on this as they correlate the latest epidemiological data.

Presumptive case reported in my county:  old dude who'd done some traveling.

He's undergoing care, and people with whom he'd been in contact are being sought.

Heard the above only in passing.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Eventually it will be everywhere. Just because we haven't had a positive case here, doesn't ever make me think it's not in the area somewhere. It's highly communicable and people travel all over. I just assume it's around. We still have to go about daily life, be aware and not ignore symptoms, but also not over react either.

One of our ER doc's told me yesterday they have already seen a large increase in patients coming in with colds and runny noses and asking to be tested. It's not a great idea. Not only will they get a big bill for that minor diagnosis, but really, an ER is one of the last places you want to be if you are not already sick, because every body else usually is.

Walk in clinics...

Around here at this time of the year (snow bird season) it's so difficult to even get in to see your family doc.  Wife had an issue two weeks ago not feeling well with retaining water and elevated BP and our family doc's office said they could see her in three weeks.  We know his nurse practitioner and called her.  She got us in much quicker.  Otherwise, go to urgent care/walk in clinic.

Walk in's are a good idea to keep cost down. I also think there is no point jumping the gun. I would only go to a clinic if I had a fever and was starting to get lower respiratory tract symptoms. With milder symptoms I would just stay home and monitor myself.
