The Washington State Lab just started COVID-19 samples on Friday, rather than sending them all to the CDC in Atlanta.  They have the capacity/goal of running ~ 200 tests per day.  The University of Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center labs are set to begin testing, if they haven't already.  The plan is for as many community-based labs as possible to be able to perform tests.

It is perfectly legit to ask for sources when folks are making grandiose statements.

Just use proper PPE! That's it! I used to work in a facility with monkeys that had all sorts of diseases. Take the necessary precautions, you will be ok.

Then do it! I did my job because...scary sometimes, yes, but I did it in the hopes of helping people.....at large and I loved it! and I like to think that by working on things like rotavirus, HIV and secondary infections related to HIV, I was doing just that....every single day.

The level of rumours and speculation around this outbreak has been revealing and in many ways has potentially threatened people's health. Asking for reliable sources is perfectly reasonable, otherwise it's just a viewpoint with no science.

Thank you!  I worry more about my patients.  I'm in outpatient oncology (chemo infusion), so a lot of them are immunocompromised at any given time.  Still waiting to hear what the overall plan will be for keeping them safe.
