We thought that would be the case too, but it seemed like they only had "marriage" listed as a relevant QLE and had to be done within 60 days, and obviously the whole process takes longer than that :( It's all very confusing to me. Thanks for the information.

Unfortunately, it's a common mistake with HR departments. They know the norms, but are often not trained or educated on the full requirements.

Insurance always start date is beginning of month, regardless if when you purchase it

did you reached to your consulate directly?

there are private companies that gives you insurance regardless of SSN.  Google it. They charge $200month

Yes I reached out to the consulate and they told me they are requiring the DS5540 at the interview. It isn’t the SSN that’s the problem. It’s that no companies I can find will allow my husband to enroll in insurance without having permanent residency first which he obviously won’t have until he gets here so I can’t prove on the DS5540 that he will have insurance since we can’t enroll

They will not enroll him without ID and proof of permanent residency. I don’t have my own insurance to add him to he is going to buy his own

I think they give you letter that you have insurance, but also they give you 30 days to submit all docs. I would buy insurance few days before interview.  they will ask for passport details

my family member was able to get insurance from some private company. idk the name, sure it was small, but insurance

They will not give the insurance without the documents proving permanent residency. I’ve already tried. If we could buy him the insurance before the interview we would but no one will allow him to purchase without being a permanent resident first is what I’m saying

Question when filling out the DS5540 should I put my information as a petitioner or it’s all about my wife the beneficiary?

If you applied for the CR1 (I-130) BEFORE 24 Feb 2020 then I do not believe you need to be worried about the public charge rule. This is how I understand it and is my view. I am not a legal or immigration fundi, only giving my opinion and sharing knowledge.

Your view is not supported and contradicts the facts. Anybody going to an interview on or after Feb 24th 2020, should have the DS-5540 filled out incase they are asked for it.

Well @LilyJ i assume it would be ok if you settle on an insurance plan and write that one with the details and attach the emails of you contacting them and showing your interest in enrollment. You can select on the form if you will have insurance within 30 days after arrival so im pretty hopeful that will be accepted since we have no other option - its the only thing that makes sense now with this sloppy form.

Im in the same boat as you and all this research is stressing me out.

I submitted all of our documents weeks before this ruling. If it wasn't for VJ I wouldnt have had a clue!

Do I need to submit the questionnaire to CEAC or can my husband just bring it to the interview? If we submit it on CEAC our wait time will start over 😑

Curious if anyone recently got DQ after the ruling without submitting the DS5540 on the CEAC website
