Hi everyone,

I'm getting the i-485 ready and noticed something.

My wife's father's surname, Moraes, is spelled slightly differently (Morais) in the long form of her birth certificate from Brazil.

Is this an issue, and should I get an affidavit from her or her mother saying that these two names are for the same person? Or does it not matter?

Thank you!

Most likely it will not be noticed, it took you guys a while to figure it our yourself and you spent way more time on it than any IO ever will. Having said that, change favors the prepared mind, so it may be advisable to see if you can get it corrected before the interview. That way you can hand over the corrected version at the interview without delaying your filing.
