Hi all,

Can anyone advise me on the following question on the I-944 form. It's from Page 11 Question 25, in regard to Public Benefits:

25.   Did you withdraw your application(s) before being certified to receive the public benefit(s)?       Yes      No

I have never applied for or received any public benefits, so I would answer this No right? I find the wording on this form somewhat confusing in places.

Yes, You would click no because you never submit an application for public benefits.

Putting the final touches to this I944 and there's only one thing that's troubling me and thats the social security and credit report part.  I'm half tempted to just send it with a note for that section explaining my wife does not have a ssn or a credit report and pulling a report is impossible without them.  You would also think that when they see that you are requesting a ssn through the i765 they would understand that.  I've seen multiple different people doing different things for this.  Has there been any feedback of these attempts?

Many people's forms have been accepted doing it this way.  As far as it coming back up later with an RFE or when we get to interview stage, it's too soon to tell!

Hi all,

On page 6 of the I-944 form, in the Your Household’s Assets and Resources section it asks you to "Provide the amount of assets and resources available to you and your household members". Of course this has to be in dollars, my wife will be including her savings & stocks etc.

For me, I plan on including my savings in my UK checking account and my UK pension savings.

I was wondering if anyone has a particular website they used to convert into dollars? Should I include evidence of the website  (and time/date etc) from which I converted my cash savings from pounds into dollars?

Many Thanks

I just used Googles converter and in additional information I listed the dollar amount in AUD and the current exchange rate for the day and then what it converted to in USD.

For example:

Hi all,

I have a quick question regarding Part2. Family Status (Your Household), when I am filling out the section for MYSELF should I answer the following questions ? Or leave them blank? Based on previous comments I'm weary about leaving anything on this form blank...

Does this individual live with you?

Is this individual filing an application for an immigration benefit with you or has this individual already filed an application?

On my husbands form, for himself (not the USC) he answered yes for both of those. And then for me (the USC) we answered yes and then no

Ok thank you, so your husband is the K1 immigrant and you are the US citizen? Have you received a NOA? I'm nervous about leaving anything blank,  but the way the second question is worded confuses me somewhat...

Yes. He is the K1. That is one of the ones we left blank on the first two rounds and changed when we sent it the third time. Yes we have our NOA now.

Ok thank you for the advice, I was planning on leaving it blank! I will copy you now 😃

I was confused because it says "immigration benefit"...I haven't and won't apply for any benefits.

Thanks for clearing that up for me

Actually, if you are the applicant, you ARE applying for an immigration benefit! The ability to live and work in the US! Your greencard!

Evening

At the Household Income section I just included what’s in my US bank account. Am I to include my husbands too?

I received a rejection notice because I was missing a signature on one form.

surely if they needed his assets they would have asked?

Hey everyone,

Newbie here, however I have been going through this process by myself.

I found a great resource online that anyone filing an AOS with form i-944 should look at:

It's a reference document for immigration lawyers, but it does clear up a lot of questions that I had and you probably have regarding form i-944.

Cheers!

I think this helps a lot.
