Yes, that's my attitude too! I know many people haven't heard from late Feb. and March so I am just trying to be patient.  I feel a little better each day I don't see the rejected package in my mailbox but still so scared! Waiting and waiting for them to pull the check from my account!!!

It's going to be the ONLY time in life that people are actually happy to have money from their bank account withdrawn! lol

I am currently stuck at the "Language" section. I speak another language other than English because I was originally born in another country that doesn't speak English. I don't have a certificate earned for my native language so what how should I fill it?

Did you go to school in your country ?

include the school certification and include letter describing your circumstances

I do but its not in English. Am I certified to translate it instead? I remember some of the documents I could since I can read and interpret. I wonder if this one needs to be translated through a certified interpreter?

Yeah I am also going to include the certificate from my school mentioning all the three other languages I know. It's in both of my native language and English fortunately but the scoring system is different. I am just going to submit it and not worry about doing the equivalency as that could be costly just for language proof.

It was odd because the i-944 instruction was specifically asking for a transcript that shows that I took a class in the language or a language certificate. It didn't specifically mention a "graduate certificate" but I ended up doing the same thing. I included my graduate certificate and found a translation service online that interpreted my certificate in less than 4 hours.

How is my fiance supposed to prove Education/Language if we cannot get his school records from the early 90's of a school that has been torn down and does not exist? I have searched and searched on how to get them. I've followed links others have suggested and gotten nowhere. He is from Wales.

I am so confused about this form I-944. If anyone can give some help it would be greatly appreciated.

First- I don’t have a SSN and have yet to combine any financed with my husband which means no credit history. Will screenshots of the error messages on these credit sites be enough proof that credit history doesn’t exist?
Second- I recently arrived in the states and  I have not worked since arriving. Therefore, no income or US bank accounts, no assets, US debts etc... I do however have College debt in Canada, a credit card, and can provide Canadian bank statements. Am I required to submit these or are they only asking about US?

I am going to include both. As I am fortunate enough to have a certificate which specifically mentions the languages taken and the grades I got.

Thank you for your reply. I have moved from Canada to the US and basically sold anything that would be considered an asset (car etc). When including liabilities (educational debt) must I print supporting documents and then convert to US currency to properly fill out the form?

I printed supporting documents for my student debt in Australia and then in the additional information part I wrote down how I converted that value from AUD to USD.

So this form, wants tax returns and credit scores, and debts, and assets and benefits -- Which I understand, but, if I only just moved to the US, and don't have a credit score, never did US tax returns, obviously don't have any US debts or benefits, or assets, or pretty much any income because I am waiting for my EAD to work to make any sort of income, what am I to put for any of these answers?

Do I put 0/NA or am I putting all the info from my SO and all their stuff?

OR can I just give them all my Canadian versions of these things (tax returns, credit score etc)?

I don't apply for AOS for another few months, but looking at it for future reference gives me a headache 'cause I won't have any of these things. Are not having these things just going to get me denied, even though its not my fault we can't have most of this automatically?

We just did ours and you're right - YOU wont have any of those but the US citizen will have tax forms and bank statements, etc. Remember, some of those questions are phrased 'Your and Your Household' and 'Your/You', make sure you pay attention to the context and point of view of the question. Just make sure you have health insurance...you don't want to be a 'public charge' :)

I figure I'll throw a few more questions to the pot, after having diligently read all of these pages for the answers I seek...

My husband has been coming in and out of the states for the past year and a half as a B2 Visitor, we are just now (re)sending in our concurrent AOS package. Funnily, we originally sent it in BEFORE the I-944 became mandatory, but then post office or someone messed up found our 485 pack loose in the mail. Just as well as the I-130 was rejected because my checks were misprinted... So now we have to do the I-944. Boo.

Questions:

Health Insurance : Do you think putting Canadian National Health will suffice? Or should I get a travel insurance package for him? I do not have insurance myself, as I work in hospitality. Well. Worked. Furloughed presently..

English language : He is from Manitoba, Canada, where most people speak English... We were just going to get his college transcripts evaluated, but apparently they don't TAKE English in college there so they are useless for this. I hope to be able to obtain his high school transcripts but he graduated in 1989... So the question is - do we think that for applicants from English speaking countries they'll be more lenient on this one??

Liabilities : The language is unclear. Is it just (the applicant) His liabilities they want? I just sort of don't feel like my $140K in student loans will help anything...

I'll leave it at that for now?

Does your partners Canadian National Health Insurance cover him whilst in the USA? If yes, this may be OK as it states that foreign health insurance is an acceptable form of health insurance, but it would have to cover him in America. I have personally sought Global Health Insurance with Cigna which covers me in the US (I am not 100% sure if this is OK, but I strongly believe it will be and am willing to take the risk). Alternatively go on Healthcare.gov to get a U.S based health plan. You can get the policy for the both of you.

English Language: I am the applicant for our I-944 and I have a degree from Australia. I personally do not have access to my Highschool certificate right now so I am just going to include my evaluation for my university degree and hope it is enough. I think I will also include a letter stating I do not have my highschool certificate but direct them to the fact that I had my university degree evaluated and a pre-requisite to get into that was my Highschool certificate.

In regards to liabilities and debts it only wants that of the non U.S. citizen (applicant), so you would not have to list your debts.

I hope that helps!
