But wouldn’t you already have been including her diploma for the education section? So would an English speaking person. However, if they don’t have a diploma, I’m not sure what they could list to “prove” they speak English.

I do agree with that. I just included that in part 4 number 5 since I don't want to risk an RFE or rejection for leaving the section blank. But from everything I've read, USCIS is requiring evidence of language proficiency in some way. I don't know how that works though with native speakers who lack any documentation. I read on another site of someone who took an online English proficiency test.

This is a site I found that has a simple free test and gives you a certificate and you could pay for a more detailed exam.

 https://tracktest.eu

Who knows if USCIS will take this but it seems like it could be the best course for some. Hopefully we can get clarification in the coming months as more people start filing.

I did not.  I didn’t because my salary is well over the guidelines and it indicates that if you are well over you do not need to provide more information in that section. I know some other people who have been accepted did not either. Not sure if we might end up getting an RFE later. I would say if you’re including it in the chart and/or if there’s any question to whether your income is sufficient, include it - I agree. It’s SO much paper.

Okay thats reassuring because my tax return clearly show that I have for the past 3 years maintained well above the 125% guidelines.

Thanks again!

So for part 15, it asks about health insurance.  Is it asking if my wife has her own insurance or if she is a beneficiary? She doesn't have her own policy but she is a beneficiary of mine.

Just provide proof of her and yours healthcare cover - ( a jungle to figure out from a Danish guy used to universal healthcare - but that is a completely different discussion)

That is the exact question I messed up the first time I filed (I think - its the only thing I could find) - I left the expiration part blank the first time around.  Yes - my husband is on my plan too.  Agree with other poster, just prove that she is on your plan and I remember the instructions ask for some specific details about the coverage that must be included.

what did you end up submitting in lieu of the document from the credit reporting companies  _

I feel your frustration and share it... we are in the same situation having to guess and hope is not ideal when the stakes are high...

Well, since we were pretty desperate, my husband added me on his credit card as an authorized user and we sent his credit score + a screenshot of his credit card company's website showing both our names. Yeah I know, it's not what they want but we tried everything we could so this was a way to go around it a little bit.
Along with that, we ended up submitting a statement, a simple letter explaining why we weren't able to include the credit report from Equifax and how we will have it on time for an eventual RFE or at the interview. I'm not so sure about having it on time anymore tho, with this virus thing everything is closed.

This is the letter we sent but I have no idea if it will work or not for now. We filed on March 10th and no letter/NOA has arrived in the mail yet. They haven't even cashed the check yet.

(NOTE: regarding the "I must submit my application within 90 days of my arrival", I know people say there is no bottom line to file for AOS but I stand with those who say that is better if you do, since "being out of status after 90 days" makes perfect sense to me).

Form I-944 DECLARATION OF SELF-SUFFICIENCY
Regarding Applicant’s Credit Report

Applicant’s First and Last Name
Alien Registration Number
Street/ P.O. Box
City, STATE Zip Code
e-mail address
phone/cellphone number

To whom it may concern:

I am writing this letter to address the situation regarding the request for credit report and score mentioned in the I-944 form. The I-944 Declaration requires me to provide proof that I do not have a credit report available since I cannot produce one due to not having a line of credit. I contacted “Name of credit bureau” (Equifax, Experian or TransUnion) by regular mail and they will be sending me a letter with proof that I have not yet established credit, however, it may take some time before I receive this proof from them and I must submit my application for Adjustment of Status within 90 days of my arrival in the US.
I included my husband’s credit report and score, since I am listed as one of the credit card authorized users, although I am not sure if it is considered as valid evidence.
If needed, you can request the letter from “Name of credit bureau” at any point as a request for evidence.

Sincerely,

I'm so sorry you still haven't heard anything.  I am glad you shared - my anxiety is through the roof about not hearing anything but it's good to see others share that they are still waiting - I need to remember that they truly don't always process everything "in order" and that each case is its own.  I really hope you hear something or see your check cashed soon, and me too!

As someone suffering from anxiety already, I understand. It's crazy enough to go through the new form i-944 without guidance. Add the stress of COVID-19 and it's the perfect recipe for a mental breakdown. I know a couple from Cali that submit AOS around 02/21 and they have 0 news so far. I guess we will have to be extra patient considering what's going on.
Remember we are not alone and everyone is doing their best here to share their experiences so hopefully everything is gonna be alright and USCIS will be a little understanding 😅
Stay safe! 🥰

Lol what an april fools joke for us haha.  Well good thing is I was actually able to get the USPS to intercept the package before it gets delivered so no rejection.  Just back to more paperwork.  Thank you for all your help guys, glad we had this discussion, if it weren't for yall  I would've been more surprised with a rejection of an outdated form than the i944 haha.

I unfortunately found out about I-944 as soon as the package was delivered. It was too late and now either push it through a congressperson or wait for the package to come back. But reading this chain now I am in the same boat as yours. Started I485 with one version and ended up sending that with no mention of I-944 in the form. What is surprising that the form I did send has an expiry of 2021. So you would assume it is not going to change anytime soon. Well I just hope I wont have to pay the fees twice. Please keep us updated.

Just so English native speakers are aware, my university was able to provide me with a letter that stated my degree was taught and assessed through the English language. Hopefully that helps someone.

I took TOEFL in 2012 as a test to prove my english language for my Masters. I unfortunately didnt save a copy of the score report as most of them had to be submitted directly to the universities in US. Now after digging a lot I couldn't find it. I have reached out to my university to see if they can help dig it out or atleast give me a letter to prove it. If nothing works I am going to attach my High School Certificate form my country as a proof for all my three languages. Its in my native as well as English language so hopefully not translation required and doing to whole equivalency thing is just expensive to prove I can speak English. This form just made the whole process 100 times harder.

Has anyone gotten rejected or accepted with this new I-485 and I-994? If so what did you do for credit score (assuming you don't have one) and English proficiency?  I'm thinking of sending them the screen telling me they couldn't find my credit score and sending my U.S university degree as English proficiency. Please let me know if you guys think this would be enough

If you go onto the March 2020 filers board you will see some people who have gotten NOA1 - however it's just too soon after the new forms went into affect to see anyone getting accepted/NOA2 yet.  That will probably be one of the first places people will share when they do get an acceptance.  Many people sent the error screens and got initial acceptance/NOA1.  Time will tell if this holds up long term.

Yes, that's my attitude too! I know many people haven't heard from late Feb. and March so I am just trying to be patient.  I feel a little better each day I don't see the rejected package in my mailbox but still so scared! Waiting and waiting for them to pull the check from my account!!!
