Just a short note:

I sent a letter explaining the situation with the new form and the application to request a credit report circa 3 weeks ago by mail. I sent it as a registered letter from Germany, but put my future address as sender and also told them I don't live there yet.

My fiancé told me today that he received an answer from them today. They sent a letter stating that no credit score exists for me.

Maybe that information helps some of you 😆

Great! I hope that I get one of those eventually since I also sent in that form in a similar way. I sent it about two weeks ago now.  I also already sent in my AOS packet, so now if I have an RFE, hopefully by then I will have an official letter back saying there is no score! Thanks so much for sharing!

I have a question, do you have SSN?  in Annual Credit Report Request Form, it requests Social Security Number, I still waiting for my SSN, can I requests them to send me a documentation state that I do not have a credit report?

No, I don't have a SSN. I'm not even in the U.S. yet. I simply wrote in the cover letter that I have no SSN and left it blank on the form.

Hello guys,

Reading about the form 944 we came across a colleague statement which says "...remember that this form is being used to adjust status from many situations, not just K-1 and family based visas, so the questions apply to different people in different ways.  Entering on a K-1, yes, you will not have income because you cannot legally work". Encountering the issues towards the documents required as in credit score, credit report, income, language certification (since I'm self-educated in English and Spanish), we decided to risk and send the AOS without these documentations. We will only attached my U.S citizen documents (his tax return, w2, bank statement, pay stubs, etc...). If we receive a RFE later on, depending of what will be requested, we may provide it.

USCIS has the new policy of making a decision without sending out any RFEs and and some IOs are using it very strictly. People have been receiving denied decision lately. I would be cautious in doing that.

Unfortunately we don't see ways to provide credit report when I don't even have a SSN.

I'm so sorry, and totally understand, its very stressful.  I sent in the paper form by mail last week, but I am concerned about how long it might take to come back/if it comes back at all.  I have come to the conclusion that I am going to send in my application with a letter explaining that there is no available card along with all of the error messages that I screenshotted and will print.  Then, I am just going to expect we might get an RFE, and if we do, hopefully by then a credit score will be in place and/or I will have gotten some sort of written response from the companies.  And maybe an RFE will not happen!

This is not sound advice, just my way of dealing with it because I do not want to delay submitting.

Edited to add: if it works, then it can become sound advice for others! : )

Yup, that's basically what we wanted to do too. My husband added me on his credit card as an authorized user and we screenshotted the credit card's company webpage showing both of our names and we sent his ("our" at this point, but I bet that's not what USCIS wants) credit report/score.

Then, we added a letter explaining that for now I don't really have any credit line, so no credit score or report and that we sent a letter to Equifax requesting proof of no credit report/score, but we haven't received an answer yet so if they want it, they can ask for it later and we'll have it by then. Maybe they won't, who knows! It's all about trial and error for us "new-post 02/24-immigrants".
We sent the entire AOS package today and we are both so relieved. I hope they'll be understanding and that they'll realize they might need to make a separate form for K-1 applicants, since 90% of the stuff they ask doesn't apply to us at all and/or it's almost impossible to retrieve.

How did this plan go? I am also in a similar position and thinking of doing the same thing

I would LOVE to know honestly, cause Equifax seems to have vanished in a black hole out in Space. We sent the letter with our request weeks ago and they haven't answered yet. I hope it's just caused by this crazy Coronavirus thing and not cause they have no idea how to provide such information either! If I ever get a reply from them, I'll make sure to post an update here.

I can't answer completely personally because my original file got rejected for accidentally leaving a line blank on the 944 (sighhhhh). But there are some other people in the March filers group who did it that way and got accepted.

Hi there,

I too is struggling with this form. My AOS got rejected because i have to submit i-944 form.  So now i am filling it out and it is so confusing.

I have kids and they're not here but i am supporting them in the Philippines.  Should i include my 2 kids in the form (Part 2, family status)? if so, what should i put on the Total number of household members? does that include them or just me and my husband?

Thank you

What do you mean about leaving a line blank on the I-944? can you specific which part and which item?

I left the line asking when insurance will expire (Part 3, Question 15C) because my insurance doesn't expire or need a renewal. I don't know for sure if that is what it was, but that's all I could figure out with the form being "incomplete" when I compared with other people who got their's accepted.  So I figured out what date the automatic renewal happens and used that date, with a note in the last part.
