Have you tried to get a report from https://www.annualcreditreport.com/index.action

It will return a page that says no credit report found if it can't find it. Then you can print that as proof.

From your post I think you don't have a social security number? If you have one something should show up. Even utility companies report to credit agencies now, I think you should have something unless you haven't been in the US long enough, usually 90-120 days. Then I'm not sure how to go about it. But I know at the website it will say no report found, and then print and send it in.

Hi,

I'm preparing I-944 for my wife. Did you submit the sreenshot of no report found from web site to USCIS? How was it? Did they accept it?

Sorry, my bad. I meant to make a screen of CreditKarma showing that it is mandatory to type in a valid SSN, which I do not have, and then attach the screen with the I-944.

Have you attached the Screenshot from Credit Karma with I-944 and submit to USCIS?

My wife has been in the country (we're about to apply for adjustment of status) for almost 3 years, she has no SSN, and is an authorized user on a few of my credit cards.  I could not process online a credit report, but today I called TransUnion, hit 0 to speak with an operator, and within 5 minutes they found her credit report and they're mailing it to me.  The number I used to call was: (833) 395-6938.  I was on hold for about an hour before they answered, but once they did it was very efficient.

Hopefully this can help someone.

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for all the suggestion, we will definitely have to do was some of you suggested.  My husband and I are also dealing with this same issue of not having a social security number. He came here on a K1 visa in Feb, we married March 3rd, and now ready for the AOS. I was told this morning by an agent at Equifax that they DO NOT send proof of no credit history by mail to someone that does not have a social security number. 😢. So she suggested we go to the social security office and get a number. I must send his AOS packaged by May 2nd, so after getting his number, even though it take a long time for the system to recognize it, we will have to screen shot those error messages saying there is not proof of credit history for that number and send that, along with a type note to USCIS.

This process has been so frustrating! Specially since we, the couples dealing with this I-944 form are the fist batch. But on the brighter side, after this we will all be pros, and we will be able to give advice to others. Wishing a smooth process for everyone.

It’s been somewhat of an uphill adventure for sure - let’s hope that the USCIS is comprised by dedicated employees keen to assist us through The rigorous process.

please DO NOT underestimate the time Required for the preparation of AOS with the new Form I944 added into the mix.

Laura - I would not wait for the SOCIAL

it takes time too - I received mine after fighting a small battle -

furthermore  despite having a Social- the credit Bureaus Still Doesn’t recognize the social- that can take 90-120 days after issuance.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will do what other suggested, of going online to Credit Karma, or any other free credit site,  type in the SSN and take a picture of the error message. And yes lets hope that USCIS see how much of a struggle this process is for people that enter the USA on a K1 visa

Hey there,

we filed on 02/22 and just received an email that the I-485 got rejected due to over payment. Now we are in the same boat and have to refile.

Since my husband and I have a joint bank account as well, I just went to my bank and asked for proof of no credit score and they were able to print out a page with proof that I do not have a credit score history. Maybe yours can too :)

I applied for I485 in 2015. At that time there was no I-944. And because I was a student back then, most of us didn't have an SSN. The only reason one would have was if you were a foreign student working on campus. Anyways, I got my SSN after I got my conditional green card. Now looking at the wait you guys have and this form, I feel bad for you guys. This is outrageous.

2015-03-23 AOS filed

2015-12-29 AOS approved

2017-10-03 I-751 filed

2018-10-02 N400 filed

2020-07-16 I-751 & N400 approved. Sworn in as a US citizen.

2020-07-16 Registered to vote & applied for passport

2020-07-20 Voted!

My experience so far:

I called TransUnion (833) 395-6938, hit 0 to speak with an operator, and after 1hour and 9min of hold the person was totally unhelpful and wasn't able to give me any information.

I have also took another users advice and asked my personal banker who opened our joint checking how he can help (I'll check back in with results).

Now I am on hold with Experian 1-800-493-1058 and put in my information (instead of my immigrant husband) to try to talk to a representative. I will let you know how it goes. Here is what Experian wrote me on Facebook when I explained the situation:

Hey Kristen. Thank you for reaching out to us. I apologize for any inconvenience, but the best way to address your concern is to speak directly with one of our Customer Care Specialists. At your earliest convenience, please call us at 1-800-493-1058, Monday-Friday from 8 AM-7 PM CST. It will ask you for your SSN, then it will ask you for your ZIP code. After you enter the information requested, please listen for the prompts and select 2, then listen to the prompts again and press 1, then listen to the last prompts and press 1 again. The IVR will immediately start talking about fraud and other options. Hang tight and listen to the IVR and you will hear it say “Please ask your dispute agent for more information”. It may talk a little more and it will finally say ‘All calls are recorded for quality assurance”. This will put you in the queue to speak with a specialist. Please be advised that we are experiencing a higher than normal call volume and the hold time may be greater than expected. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Have a good day. -Ross

So I have to go to my bank to say my wife on a k1 has no credit score? Can they make it more difficult for us in these times?

The Bank doesn’t report to the credit bureau agency's  unless you have defaulted etc.

best bet is to request a credit report if you already have a SSN - alternatively take screenshots of No Credit report available- provide a statement explaining the fact - you can add paid invoices to show proof of financial responsibility-

CHASE have an app And a web page with credit report Access- perhaps other banks will have a similar setup..

I would not stress TOO much about not yet having a credit score available yet..

I can’t envision this to be held against us..

I found this on Citizenpath:

USCIS will review your U.S. credit report and the credit score submitted with your I-944 declaration, if available, to review your financial status. Many new immigrants do not have any U.S. credit history or credit score. This is normal and won’t disqualify you for a green card.

Before you answer these questions, obtain a free credit report. You are entitled to a free credit report once a year under the Fair Credit Reporting Act from each one of the three credit reporting agencies. You are only required to provide one credit report from any of the three nationwide credit reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. If you do not have a credit report, use the credit agency’s documentation to demonstrate that you do not have a credit report or score.

This works if someone has a SSN but what happens if someone doesn’t? This won’t apply because all 3 credit agencies require a SSN to complete application.

Hi Viking..u say not to understimate the time for AOS after the I-944 but you should NOT be saying that, given the fact that,by law, any immediate relative on AOS can file WHENEVER due to the fact that the AOS bars of adjustments regarding time or employment DO NOT APPLY to them. It is very important because that definitely can lower the anxiety that this process has overall, not to be pushed by deadlines, but to do everything serenely and in order.
