Hey guys! So quick question. My husband has his interview at the London US embassy in a week(YAY.) With this new public charge paperwork does my husband have to fill it out since his interview is in a week? I know it’s so new and no one knows much about it but I’m worried since this rule is so close to his interview. Thank you!

currently the FAM say that the DS-5540 will be required for immigrant visas going forward. However, I haven't seen any changes from the Embassy websites saying whether they want it or not. Since this form was literally released today, no one really know the true extent of this new form and its implications. We don't know if we should fill out/ submit the DS-5540 unless the embassy specifically calls out and notifies you to bring it.

I learned the hard way, I hope YOU don't have to. Advice: learn, learn, learn.

Just in case (our interview is March 30,) we completed the form, uploaded it to CEAC, and also included proof of health insurance.

We'll bring the originals to the Interview, just in case.

Better to be safe than sorry, and the form literally took about 7-8 minutes from start to finish.

Good luck!

As long as the official website hasn't put it yet, it's not there.

As long as you never been in USA and you re just an applicant on k1 or spousal visa. Filling up this form is like drinking water, but for those who actually resides in USA illegally and been working for some years n never filled taxe or been on some kinds of government support or benefits .so it’s gonna be very hard for them to swallow when it comes to filling up this form to adjust status .thats what this form meant for.
