US Mail has possibly lost our paperwork

It seems that the US Mail may have lost our paperwork? Does anyone know what happens under such circumstances?

Hi Melo,

Why are you saying that the US mail has lost your petition? Did you speak with the USCIS and NVC? What did they say? When I was waiting for my petition to be received by NVC from USCIS, I called a couple of times and they told me that they had not received it and then I called the USCIS and they told me I had to allow 90 days. I almost went crazy and choked the guy through the telephone. Did you send e-mail’s (very important so that you have documentation). With an NOA2 of 12/29/05, NVC should have definitely had your petition already. Stay on their a$$’s.

Paul spoke to the USCIS today and they said it is quite possible that it has been lost in the post. They asked him to send a fax of the NOA2... but could or would not give him any further information. This just seems like a nightmare!!!

They lost the paper work you were mailing to him for the interview or visa versa? Did you insure it? Hopefully it will turn up soon. Good luck

Our case was approved... it goes from the USCIS to the NVC - the USCIS says it may have been lost in transit. I just do not know what to do... have written to the Embassy and they have not responded... have been trying to call them for 4 days now and they do not answer the phone.

When i said they didnt know I meant they dont know right NOW - it'll probably turn up but instead they chose to worry you with things like 'oh it might be lost' instead of running a check on it or assuming its just delayed..thats all I meant hun - try not to stress..I bet it turns up

Did your fiance keep a copy of his initial package (all the papers sent in with the now approved I 129)? I plan to because I'm paranoid .

If so, can he not somehow get it to them?

They respond to 'queries' in anything from 1 day to 7 days...

Have you tried calling the 'experts' on the premium line?

(from UK - 09042 450 100) its over a quid per min, but they MIGHT be able to assist you in what to do?

Paul has kept a copy of everything he sent; one reason to do so is coz he needs to send me all that he sent them. I do so hope it turns up. Am really feeling frantic.

How do you know USPS lost it? I admit I haven't kept up with all your posts on this matter, but I wouldn't rush to judgement if I were you. Lots of posters have encountered inordinate delays in their case getting from USCIS to the Embassy (via NVC). It happens. And just because NVC says they never got your case doesn't mean they never really did. In fact NVC only knows about your case (it's a K1, right?) for as long as it's in the NVC. Once they send it to the Embassy, it appears they lose all institutional memory of the case. It becomes as if they never had it. Another possibility is the people at USCIS may have mistakenly "archived" your case. That has been known to happen as well. Typically, something like that is resolved at the USCIS level.

I have to disagree with the Agent here; 1+ month is an unusual delay and has spelled trouble for post-ers here in the past. Nayalamb is the example that comes to my mind most readily; her petition was lost between USCIS (Vermont) and the NVC for THREE MONTHS. Had Naya not been as persistent as she was, who knows how long it would have taken them to "find" her petition?

To the OP: Have your fiance stay on the case with NVC and USCIS for maybe another week or two, and if nothing turns up, he should file an inquiry with his Congressperson's immigration liaison. Don't assume anything at this point.

Like I said, I hadn't kept up with her case. I was not aware of the length of the delay. How much was Jamie's delay? (Vipul&Jamie I think).

Did you make copies of everything you sent? If they are aware the papers were actually lost (get it on record) and you have copies, see if you can send them the copies. And this time mail it with delivery confirmation or signature requirements. It is a cheap investment that allows you to know your stuff arrived at their doorstep.
