I don’t have a California ID and I don’t think I can get one of those without an SSN. I can’t get a driver’s licence, I can’t get a bank account...I’ve really utterly f’d myself here and I have spent the last two days crying about it because I literally don’t have any other options it seems. My oversight and the fact that I prioritised wedding stuff and sorting out other things before this have completely left me out of options until I get the EAD

Hopefully he’ll be able to add my name to his credit card? I don’t even know if he’ll be able to do that because I don’t have any identification documents in my new married name, obviously (besides the marriage certificate).

You don’t need a SS to open a bank account. If his bank insists then go find another bank.

As I recall all I did was call and asked to add my wife.  Should not be a problem.

When we went for the interview I had copies of my cards and her cards side by side showing they were the same numbers just with different names.

Don't stress so much.  They don't expect you to have a ton of evidence.  Worth a try with adding to the bank account, and you might have to try different banks to find one that will do it.

I just googled this and you’re right, I’m hoping his bank who know us and our situation will be kind and let us open a joint account. Thank you!

Thank you for your reassurance. I’m just so mad at myself! I know it isn’t the end of the world and I can still get an SSN once I get the EAD but I’ve made things much harder for myself as per usual with me honestly. I really appreciate everyone’s advice and help, thank you so much.

Just to update - we found out we have 60 days to add me to his insurance (massive relief as he is on a business trip today for a week) and we managed to get my tetanus shot and made a bank account with no issues. Thanks again for everyone’s help.
