Maybe not, you were married less than a month ago. What cover does your Husband have.

30 days would be Wednesday so we’ve probably missed the deadline. We’re going to Social Security on Monday to try and get my SSN but even if we’re successful with that it might be a while before they issue it. He’s with Kaiser Permanente but it’s private because his work is not a big company.
I’m sure somehow we’ll figure something out but I just feel very stupid and deflated.

You do not need a SSN, call Monday and see what is otherwise needed.

It's possible he could add you to his private insurance, on Monday and be under the deadline. SSN is not required to have health insurance, but certainly you shouldn't be waiting on grabbing that either. You could have gotten that within days of entering the US.

Like I said, I was planning on figuring this out a little later down the line once my travel insurance expired since that has decent medical coverage

Might want to read up on this policy.  They are designed to work only during travel, i.e not for moving abroad.

My husband had a similar one year plan which covered lots of travel back and forth, but after we were married he dropped that and I added him to my workplace policy.

I'm not sure what you mean by your husband's plan being "private"?  All insurance is "private", except for medicare/medicaid I guess.  Kaiser is a large insurance company. Even if your husband's employer will not cover the premiums to add you, they may allow for you to be added and deduct the premiums from his pay.  This is what most people have to do.  Not all employers pay most or all of the cost to add dependents.

The larger issue overall for OP is going to be not having insurance when it comes time to AOS.

We didn’t know that either - thank you for the tip and that’s exactly what we’ll do on Monday. Hopefully there is still time to add me to his plan if that’s possible!

@Jorgedig His plan is completely separate from his work (other than how much he makes informing the cost of his premiums I suppose). That’s what I meant, his employer does not do anything in regards to his healthcare.

Health insurance is now going to be my number one priority to get sorted, then the SSN (hopefully both will at least get started on Monday). Then we’ll go to a pharmacy and get me a tetanus shot, then if needs be I’ll ask a civil surgeon to complete anything that needs updating (if I can’t just use proof of my tetanus shot alongside my DS3025 as sufficient), and once all that is done we can pop all the info into the new AoS forms and get them out, hopefully in the first week of March. Thank you to everyone who commented - it’s such a complicated process and fraught with pitfalls that we didn’t anticipate (honestly due to negligence on our parts in that we were so excited to finally be married and have that sorted that we dropped the ball on being prepared for the next step). Your help has really straightened a lot of this out, at least in terms of order in which things need to be done, so I’m very grateful.

I saw that too.  OP will be wasting a trip if they go to SS office now as she will not be able to apply for a number until getting the work authorization.

Hello there,

We got married within our 90 days but have not yet filed for Adjustment (now a month past the 90 day period). We’ve been compiling paperwork and evidence etc but I was told when I did the medical in London that I should get a tetanus booster shot and noticed on a lot of the information websites for AoS that you should just go ahead and get a new medical exam anyway, especially since a civil surgeon should complete your I-693 for you. My concern is whether I need medical insurance to visit a civil surgeon for this and the tetanus jab? I have travel insurance that lasts until April but I feel like maybe I should have proper American medical insurance? Can anyone advise? Thank you so much in advance :)

No medical insurance will not cover I-693. Your husbands credit card should cover :)

most Insurance plan do cover vaccination but not all -  required for I-693 but you have to pay the Doctor to sign off on the I-69. Expect to pay around 100-150 for Doctor to sign off on I-693  if you have all the vaccines done and blood work done at your insurance. call all the clinics in your area to find out the rates, they vary significantly.

I had annual travel insurance which covered me for a whole year so if I needed to claim on anything “while abroad” I could do so until it expires

Read the fine print of the travel insurance policy, it most likely will not apply now since you're living in the US, not traveling temporarily.  I suggest you get health insurance now, either join your husband's coverage or buy your own through the ACA exchange, at least a low-cost policy that will cover catastrophic events with a high deductible, to protect yourself financially.

Oh 😬 Gosh thank you both, yet another thing I dropped the ball on. I’m so mad at myself. As long as I don’t need an SSN for the health insurance I guess I’ll just have to wait until I get work authorisation and hopefully it won’t be an issue.
Does anyone have any advice on what to use as evidence for an ongoing marriage as part of the AoS application? We don’t have anything besides our certificate and wedding photos - we live at his parents’ house, never opened a bank account here yet, we don’t have a mortgage or any bills under both of our names or anything. We were thinking about getting a joint phone plan...it’s not much but would they accept something like that? Our only other option I suppose would be an affidavit from his parents stating that we live together in their house.

Does your spouse have a credit card?  He can add you and request a card with your name on it.  That's something we had that seemed to be good evidence during our interview.

An affidavit from the parents stating you both live there and are more than welcome to stay, you don’t pay rent etc. Do you have a state ID? You can send a copy of both of your IDs showing you reside at the same place and recommend opening a checking or savings account. You will have more proof to show once you get to the interview but these are things that can be done and sent now.

I don’t have a California ID and I don’t think I can get one of those without an SSN. I can’t get a driver’s licence, I can’t get a bank account...I’ve really utterly f’d myself here and I have spent the last two days crying about it because I literally don’t have any other options it seems. My oversight and the fact that I prioritised wedding stuff and sorting out other things before this have completely left me out of options until I get the EAD

Hopefully he’ll be able to add my name to his credit card? I don’t even know if he’ll be able to do that because I don’t have any identification documents in my new married name, obviously (besides the marriage certificate).
