Can anyone who has gone through the I-129F relative to Ukraine tell me where you go to get the police certificate and how long it is valid for? I don't anticipate a hopeful interview in Kiev until October, but I would like to get as much done beforehand as possible. Is it possible to get the police cert five months prior and it still be valid for the interview, or does it have to be done within a certain number of days before the interview? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

My wife has told me the certificate is good only 30 days from the city you currently live in. I will ask her again tonight and tell you if the requirement has changed. Also certificates are available at the police station in the city of each of your addresses. So if you have lived in multile cities you will be required to get a certificate from each city. It could be complicated. Because a certificate is required for each city.

This is straight from the Embassy... Police certificates for there purpose is valid for ONE YEAR.... Also, it is possible for the local police to provide a certificate for ALL Ukraine so a certificate from each city is not required.

Great info! I forgot to ask in the original question...is getting the certificate something that can be done while waiting, or does it usually take awhile and you need to come back and get it, or do they mail it? Thanks again for all your feedback.

It is not something that is done in the same day. Ours took about 3 weeks

I also forgot to ask those that may know...what is the name of the report when you go to the police station? Is there a specific name or form number you ask them to fill out?

They will know... your SO will not have been the first

YMMV

My wife went to her police station in the city where she lives asked for the certificate and then picked it up the next day.
