Why are they giving my spouse interview?

So if there SSI is to take care of just my mom and brother then is there a chance he could be approved? My mom gets her SSI that takes care of her and my brother gets SSI that takes care of just him.

SSI stands for Supplemental Security Income.  It is temporary welfare and cannot be used to qualify as sponsor.  Believe those who tell you that if there is no qualified joint sponsor, or YOU don't get a job so YOU qualify to sponsor your spouse, your spouse will NEVER get a spouse visa to come live in the USA.

There are no "cosponsors" in immigrant visa cases.  I think you meant "household members", but YOUR household members' SSI income will not help you.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Yeah I meant household members. It’s hard to find a joint sponsor because my other family members that do have good income don’t want to help me and I have no good friends that want to do it. I thought maybe to ask people I don’t know, but I think that won’t work either. I’m so worried now he will be denied.

If your mother and brother each get SSI to take care of there needs and if you don't make enough money, then there would not be enough resources for your husband. The conclusion that immigration would come to is that your husband would be a potential third public charge.

You need to make more money to help your case instead of hoping that the SSI will count as additional income.

Yeah I have been searching for a new job. But I’m afraid that all it will be is part time work which still won’t be enough unless it’s a good paying job.

if I find a job now and my employee writes a letter of how much I earn and what my possible annual income could be would that help my case?

Two part jobs would be the same as one full time job. The important thing is getting the total to meet the requirement.

Work as much as you can. Work 2 or 3 jobs if you need to. Do you have an education? Find something in your field. Will you only be a household of 2?
For some people right NOW may not be the time to bring someone to America. MANY people wait years because they work and save until they can afford to support an immigrant.
Don’t give up -but realize right NOW may not be the time for you; asking someone to be a joint sponsor is a huge decision as it is a legally enforceable document so it’s understandable that it’s not super easy to find someone willing to put their income on the line. Best thing for you is to get more hours or pick up another job or delay your spouses pending arrival.

I do have my own online business, but right now it’s not earning enough income at all because I just started it months ago. Thank you for the advice and I will try to find more work or I might just move to his country if I have to

Self employed is even harder. Definitely do some job hunting on indeed.com

When the Sponsor Is Self-Employed. If the sponsor is self-employed, it can be much more difficult to prove income, apart from tax returns, unless the sponsor has received IRS 1099 forms as an independent contractor, which cover most of the sponsor’s income. For most self-employed persons, then, it is necessary to be creative. In addition to the federal 1040 tax return, Schedule C for self-employment and Schedule A for itemized deductions should be included if the sponsor submitted these forms with her taxes. Copies of major invoices sent to clients and cancelled checks for large amounts, combined with a company profit and loss statement, should also be submitted if possible. If a profit and loss statement is generated by the company accountant, on official letterhead, it is more likely to be deemed credible and sufficient. It is likely a wise strategy to add proof of assets to an I-864 for a sponsor who is self-employed, particularly if..

Not surprising.  I would personally only ever consider being a joint sponsor for one of my children, and even then it would be as a last resort.

Do not ask someone you don't know.  That will be denied instantly.

OP, it seems you really cannot afford to bring an immigrant to the US at this time.  Not everyone can - it is expensive  I would seriously be looking at plan B at this time if you want to stay in that marriage.

Yeah plan b is the best option at this point. He is going to get an interview is it wise to just let him get his interview or should I try to get that canceled if they are going to deny him anyway?

Unemployment is very low right now - you should be able to find work.  Best of luck.

People making visa decisions don't care how hard anything is for you.  If you don't find a qualified joint sponsor, there is no need to "worry".  You can be CERTAIN his visa will be denied.

Yeah Im going to move to him instead when he is denied. He will still go on his interview just in case I find a job or joint sponsor before that the interview. I think moving there would be better.

Get 2 jobs.  That is what I did.  I had a job but it was too close to the limits for me to be comfortable about it.  So I got a second job.  I worked 7 days a week and I believe about 68-70 hours a week.  It was hard but I was able to save some money and I qualified to sponsor my husband.  It can be done.

Yeah I’m looking for work now before his interview. I hope I find work before he has an interview set up. Hopefully he won’t have an interview for a months that way it gives me time
