Thought it was like the time when my stepdaughter's husband, a Brit, came to visit and he wanted crisps.  I went to the store to get them for him and then realized I didn't know what "crisps" were.

I guessed correctly however.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.  Deport him and you never have to feed him again.

I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it.

I went bald but I kept my comb.  I just couldn't part with it.

No, very much an American thing. I don't like super sweet things in general -- much prefer savoury treats -- so cake pops are up there with cotton candy in a noooooooo zone.

You can find them everywhere. I see them in Starbucks all the time.

I was going to guess they were cupcakes, but I would have been wrong.  Perhaps a "young persons" thing.  Haha.

Well I do not go to Starbucks very often, well not all in the last few years. I was given a Starbucks gift card for doing a talk and in the end gave it away, at that time I assumed the nearest one was an hour away. Then I was talking to a lady who works in one only 12 miles away, trouble is there is a mountain in the way so a 33 mile drive.

I also assumed American for cup cakes.

Anyway give a decent Lardy Cake any day.

It's weird, because I love banoffee pie, which is very sweet, but there is so much more going on in terms of texture to make it interesting compared to cake pops. And while you can use a scoop to form the balls themselves, it's more effective to pack the balls in tight by essentially scooping them up and forming them with your hands, which is GROSS.

Now if we were talking about a little custard-filled tart, I would not say no. :D

I had the same issue trying to find Cilantro in Tesco's, unusual for me I did ask and still no joy.

I think Fairy Cake was the more common term and has been replaced by Cupcake in the UK. Strong emphasis on I think.

I heard the term fairy cake from my ex-MIL only. Everyone my age as far as I know calls them cupcakes.

I don't really care for tiny dry cakes on a stick. Give me a *real* cake.

Talking about sticking the knife in.

Sorry!!!! If it makes you feel better, I have never heard my mother-in-law-to-be ever say either term, so I do not know her preference. I do not trust her to bake anything. I tried to show her how to make shortbread when I saw her last year and she gave up in frustration, just took off her apron and threw it on a chair and said it was all too boring to deal with. Pretty sure she lives on Coop ready meals, raw broccoli, Walkers crisps (salt and vinegar) and gin. A fairy cake/cupcake is beyond her talents.

They asked at a singles church gathering one time, what was the most romantic thing a person could do on a 1st date. I replied, cook breakfast. Not well received
