Well it started here and them seems to have exploded, now we can wonder why, but I have noticed on here you can never be certain which subjects will grab attention and which will die.

 

Well if he had asked her what to drink and later decided to grab himself some food and not asked if she wanted something to nibble then that would strike me as very odd, but I appreciate I am bit of a chauvinist pig so that may not be a valid comment. Coming back with 2 would suggest one each and if she did not want to eat it them fair enough, eat both.

It's just rude to be on a date, ask your date what she wants to drink, place the order and not order food for yourself but not for her, then NOT EVEN ASK if she wants to share. Works both ways -- she'd be a monster for doing that too. It's just politeness.

To be fair, Alex was clueless when he was younger but improving (apparently) by the time he met me. I can remember him one time asking me to run out to the off-licence for a 2L bottle of Strongbow because he was playing GTA San Andreas and I did because... I think I wanted to get in his pants at the time. :blush: Anyway, when I got back, he just said, "Cheers, Lay," and started drinking it straight out of the bottle without even asking if I wanted any. By the time we got back together years later, he was much improved by time and a wife.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I believe the cake pop guy was simply rude, not quite because he consumed them all, but because he was not thoughtful enough to ask if his date would like anything else. I'd say it would be the gentlemanly thing to do, but probably just more like the kindly thing to do. I'd do the same thing if the dude was sitting and I was getting the items. I certainly wouldn't expect anything, and I would probably decline the cake pops if offered, but it is the act of offering that is the kindness.

I'm not a big cake pop fan (too sweet, and often too dry), but I would like to be given the opportunity to decline a cake pop in this scenario.

I try to pay for things frequently, but I am often told no. It is infuriating and I want to pay because I can pay.

I needed to look up what a cake pop was but you are free to buy me one anytime. Would prefer a Beer but I am not greedy.

Maybe US regional? I have never seen anything like that in the UK and do not recollect seeing them in the US.

No, very much an American thing. I don't like super sweet things in general -- much prefer savoury treats -- so cake pops are up there with cotton candy in a noooooooo zone.
