Wait a sec... for the K3, you do have to wait for the EAD to come through. I forgot that we actually got a TIN from the IRS and were able to add my husband to bank accounts that way. And our state did not require the SS# for the driver's license, so he was able to get his within weeks of coming here.

Sorry to confuse you like that!! :)

Congratulations!

The details about the Consular experience will no doubt be comforting and useful for those going through New Delhi... great write-up!

I'll second what you say about documentation and shepherding and double-checking as the paperwork moves along... there are too many opportunities for problems as things move around between countries and govt agencies NOT to be very proactive about the whole process. Staying on top of things can really save time and avoid problems in the long run!

Best wishes for continued success in the US!

Maya

Many thanks to the Visajourney community for all the help!

Now that our nerves have settled and washed into relief, I figured I would take time to write about our Interview experience at the New Delhi Embassy while things are still fresh. For those who are like me and like detailed information, I hope the following helps calm your nerves and helps you and your SO to prepare properly for your interview. Also if you are patient enough to read to the bottom of this “book” lol. I hope to offer those who you who think your relationship may be questioned because of mixed race, religion age gap etc some hope in Manoj's and I's journey.

What a great review, and congratulations. I hope you don't mind, but I was wondering if you might answer a few questions for me as I prepare for this part too. The K3 I filed for my wife was approved earlier this week (both 130 and 129F). I think it is best to proceed with K3 and not 130 (CR1) due to time, but I am not sure. Did you consider this? Secondly, as you went through with K3, could you please tell me what the three time intervals were:

1) between K3 approval and case sent to NVC

2) from NVC to Consulate

3) then after Consulate got the case how long til interview

Next, did you have to submit any forms at all to NVC before case was sent to consulate? I don't think so for K3, but want to be sure. I can not be there with my wife when she would be going for her interview, so I need to prepare her as best I can.

Thanks again for your comments

Our I29F and I130 were approved at the same time too. We considered doing CR1 but decided to do the K-3 because in our case it would allow us to be together faster.

Between the K3 approval and the case being sent to the NVC was about three weeks to a month if I recall correctly.

From NVC to the Consulate was less than a week (it was originally sent to the wrong consulate but within a week to two weeks Mumbai Consulate had sent the information to the Delhi Embassy)

Once the Consulate got the case it took about a month and a half to the interview date.

I hope this helps you. If you have any more questions feel free to pm me.
