My wife's passport expired and she is currently her on an AOS (adjustment of status).  The renewal process is pretty lengthy we have found out, up to a year here sadly. 
Does anyone know if you can travel with an expired passport within the US if you have other valid ID as well, for example a DPI (government issued ID from guate) and Guatemalan license.

I'm pretty sure the only non-US-issued ID that the US TSA accepts is a passport.

 

If your wife has an EAD card, an EAD/AP combo card, or is able to get a RealID compliant state ID or driver's license in her state of residence (in most states, this takes an EAD, but not all), that's also good for air travel within the US. And her green card will be a valid ID for TSA too.
