Good day everyone, pls I need your help. I arrived to the us on a k1 visa we have gotten married.so why question is can I apply for the employment authorization card  so I can work  before adjusting my status the fee for the status of status is a little challenging for us now . I will appreciate any subjections thank you .

No. You need to apply for the employment Authorization on the basis of your pending AOS application .. no fee for that when applying at the same time as the AOS. Remember that , after your initial 90

day stay as authorised by your K1 entry , until you file and receive your NOA1 for your AOS, you are out of legal status or stay in the US., and can be deported during that time. Recommend you do whatever you can to get that AOS fee together and file ASAP

You need to file for AOS and EAD if you want to work, it's your only option since you chose the K-1 visa instead of the CR-1 visa. The EAD takes about 5-7 months to be processed right now. 

K-1: 12-22-2015 - 09-07-2016

AP: 12-20-2016 - 04-07-2017

EAD: 01-18-2017 - 05-30-2017

AOS: 12-20-2016 - 07-26-2017

ROC: 04-22-2019 - 04-22-2020
Naturalization: 05-01-2020 - 03-16-2021

U.S. passport: 03-30-2021 - 05-08-2021
