I get it, but it almost feels spiteful at this point, like exile by a thousand cuts. What happened with the Duke of Windsor and his security? Of course he left the country to live with his divorced American bride as well, but Meghan is a bit prettier than Wallis Simpson, though I think Mrs. Simpson was equally if not more stylish.

The duke was regularly followed around by multiple government intelligence agencies as a matter of extreme national security concerns, considering they were both flaming Nazis. Aside the fact that Hitler had planned to kidnap him and install him as a puppet king should he been successful. I do not think though that they had a formal government security team, and likely hired their own if they even cared about it. If you're being followed by the best of the best, they probably didn't worry too much of it. They did not leave the UK by choice, they were punted out and he was only very rarely allowed back in under special orders. If you're exiled. You're exiled.

To be fair, Harry only wore a Nazi uniform that one time (that we know of) and is not actually a Nazi. Meghan seems like an anti-fascist type to me.

 

Mrs. Simpson is DEFINITELY before my time, but my mom really liked that Masterpiece Theatre adaptation (prob. BBC) of Edward and Mrs. Simpson hence my awareness of her. I still think Meghan is prettier, though Wallis Simpson was very pretty when she was young as your photos show.

In modern parlance both were strong women with activist  tendencies, now they chose different routes but that was of their times.

 

And both Husbands seemed to have followed.

I read a lot of Tudor history when I was a kid. I was kind of obsessed by Elizabeth I.
